I have replaced all of it--pick up coil, rotor, cap, wires, coil, ign. mod., and crank sensor. Went so far as to replace oil sending unit and still no spark. Timing is right on, checked it several times. I don't know where else to look,

On a 99 vortec I would start looking at the computer. It has an ignition chip that has a tendency to go out or try the starter,battery or the ignition cylinder its self.

Instead of just tossing parts at it, verify B+ to the ignition coil. IIRC, it's terminal C at the ignition coil connector. It's possible the VCM (computer) is bad, but only a slim chance. Best to get a manual and use the diagnostic charts.

To check the timing dont you need to be getting a spark on the number 1 cylinder? Might check into the ECM, if you have changed the ign system that should be fine. Recheck all connections and have autozone test the ign module for free. Does the ignition module have power to it? Good luck

Another thing to check is for spark AFTER letting go of the the key?
