I bought a 2000 Honda Civic at the tail end of 2004. I can't remember if my car was supplied with a new battery or not. Shortly after I bought the car, I had problems with infrequent delayed starts. A handful of times I've had to turn the key twice to get the car to turnover. Drives fine. Anyhow, I'm zeroing in on 70k miles, my sparkplugs were replaced at 60k and there was no mention of the alternator after service. This morning my car started fine. At lunch it wouldn't start. After my key passed the first catch but before I'd reached "on", I heard a click followed by no response from the engine. No sound whatsoever. Apparantly my lights and stereo work.

The failure is from the alternator, right?

While driving my temp. gauge stays at "H" and never at "C" unless the car is off. The car smoked a little while I was driving it the other day. I bought some antifreeze/coolant to put in the car. However, I am not sure what the problem may be. Please help!

It ran perfectly yesterday, I drove to the grocery store and now it wont start. No unusual noises when it was running, and no noises now. Ordinarily I would think it was the starter (its not the battery, lights and door beeps are normal), but I'm not sure. The reason this is confusing to me is that it did this same thing a month ago....except a month ago it did it while parked in a hotel parkinglot 1000 miles from home. Weird thing about that one, is that after about 24 hours of not wanting to start, it started right up and has drove perfectly ever since. Any idea what could be wrong with a car, and somehow fix itself after a period of time of just sitting there?

My 2001 sunfire has been recently overheating. My coolant level is OK. I have been running my a/c, but when I am stopped with it running, I am having problems. It will make a hissing sound -the cool air starts to go warm & the car starts to overheat. I was stopped in traffic yesterday without my air on and the car really was about to overheat. I was able to pull off before it overheated & when I was able to start driving everything was fine. Does anyone know what this could be? Thanks for your help.

My car is a 1996 Pontiac Firebird. Why does the steering wheel shake violently when I reach 55mph?

It FEELS like the front passenger side tire is loose, or some crap. What can I do to fix this problem? What is it, exactly?

I have a 98 Honda Civic which was not blowing very cold air. So I added some R134a to it, and now it blows nice cold air. Now I have a new problem - whenever I run my A/C on full blast, my car's engine seems to have occasional power losses and it feels like my car is bogging down or skipping. Any ideas why this is happening? It goes away when I turn the A/C off.

Anytime you have to stop the car it has difficulty getting up to speed. Engine light also came on today for the first time since this started. Could this be a vacuum leak? About how much would something like this cost to have fixed?

Thanks!

I have an '06 Mustang GT. Is it safe to use gasoline with 10% ethanol? Will I get better performance without ethanol? Can it handle a certain percentage of ethanol safely? I know this is a lot of questions, but thank you for any help.

My car ('03 cavalier ls) has me raising some concern. While I drive, the ABS brakes, Service, and TRAC off lights come on, then go off after awhile. I asked my brother about it as he goes to UTI in Chicago, and he said it involves the steering wheel. In the steering wheel there's four things that connect to other parts of the car, and the one that connects to the wheel is probably fried. Is that what it is? How much does it cost to fix? Thanks!

We have replaced plugs, plug wires, coil pack, vacuum lines, fuel filter, fuel pump. Has come to my attention that someone may have put something in the gas tank . . . and it's not gas. my question is if someone put brake fluid or paint thinner or something -- would one thing going bad cause the other things to go bad?
