Depending on the length of time that you drove with the brake on, you could have caused some excessive wear on the rear brakes, as well as hurt your gas mileage.
Try this test. put the handbrake on and try to move the car. If the brake does not hold under slight acceleration, you need to have the brakes checked and repaired as required!

Not good at all!! If you drive even a short distance with the hand brake on, it can really screw up your drivetrain, engine, and even transmission. If it doesn't seem like anything happened, like if it seems to be running all right, take it into the shop anyways. You can never be too sure. Try to do it as soon as possible... until its too late and you really mess up your engine.

i'm no mechanic but if your car isn't doing anything different then i'd say nothing. the hand brake is more to do with the transmission than the engine. if your car is still running and driving just fine say you got lucky and learn not to do it again. the best of luck to you.

Since you didn't notice that the parking break was on, there was probably no damage, and whatever damage there was was done to the parking brake. This said, the fact that you didn't notice that your parking break was engaged may mean that your parking brake does not work properly. Have it checked.

i was told that it doesn't do anything to the engine itself, but will wear out that brake which i believe connects to the rear brakes
