I am the original owner of a 1967 Pontiac GTO with a 400 ci engine and a 2bbl carburetor. This car was built long before onboard computers and anti-pollution devices. My car seems to be running very hot but unfortunately I do not have a water temperature gauge. I have lubricated the manifold heat riser to make sure it is working properly so hot exhaust gases will be sent directly out the tailpipe after the car warms up. My question is what would be wrong with replacing my factory recommended 190 thermostat with a 160 or 178 thermostat in hopes of having a cooler running engine?

I've been driving a '97 Dodge Dakota pickup truck for a couple weeks now and I'm not sure if it just runs different from the other cars I've driven or if the transmission might be going bad. Of course, I don't wanna go get it checked out cuz then I'll have to pay either way. It's not making any funny noises or anything really but it just seems like I can push the gas pedal and it just won't go very fast. Unless I literally step on the gas pedal, it takes a good 30 seconds or so to get up to about 60. Could this be the tranny going bad or am I worrying about nothing?

I know this is not the proper question for this area but I can not seem to get any answers anywhere else. Please help.
The company that I work for is opening a new location where I grew up in and was asked if I would be willing to re-locate to get the operation started. I said that I would and said something to the CEO about running the operation. Now I head that another co-worker is going to be running the operation. Should I say something to my direct supervisor about the promotion or should I say nothing and just go up there and do the samething that I do now for the same money? If so, how should I bring it up to him?
The area that they are expanding to is where I grew up and I already know the system out there. I am going to be the only one that is going to have the upper advantage

The last time I drove it, it was fine. The next time I cranked it up, It had a terrible altenator noise coming through my stereo, and when the dome light goes off, you here a strange whine from it going off. When you turn on the ac it whines through the stereo. It sounds like a grounding problem to me. It now has a dead miss. What could this be? It was like a light switch. It went from perfect to broke. Anybody know whats wrong? Thanks in advance

I just recently replaced the alternator which supposedly was the starting problem 2 weeks ago. The battery terminals are clean and secured tightly by the terminal cables. And there is enough battery fluid. Confused as to what is the problem is now or if there still is a persisting problem...

First noticed last year after long drive of 300 miles straight. Burnt out one spark plug and car bucked like a pony running on 3.
Had one coil replaced and changed the spark plugs. Fixed.
Now 1 year later, I burn out a plug every month or so after a long drive, or one uphill. I feel like it has something to do with the amount of fuel the plugs are getting. It is stick shift and when the timing between the brake and the clutch is difficult, like going up a steap incline in snow or driving in real racing traffic in NYC then the spark plug burns out (ends burn then break off) under the coil packs only.
***This car has on the engine a sticker requesting only double grounded spark plugs (two arms at end) which I noticed a few months back. The double plug gives the car a lot more power but is burning out quite quickly. Car has 96K. Problems started at 70K. Should I try the new Bosch 4 grounded plug? If it is a fuel problem, how does one adjust the amount of fuel going to the plugs? Thank

Just got my car serviced. New tires, pads, and rotors. Also a new filter. When I drive my car it smells like burned plastic. Is that normal?
Thanks for any reply

I have a 200 Ford Expedition that is not starting. I don't think it is the battery, as there seems to be enough electrical power for the lights, radio, etc. The engine doesn't even crank when the key is turned. I'm guessing celenoid. Any suggestions?
