Just got my car serviced. New tires, pads, and rotors. Also a new filter. When I drive my car it smells like burned plastic. Is that normal?
Thanks for any reply

if you got new pads - thats probably what it is. it'll smell funky for a day or two - i had the same thing with my new car... you have to "wear in" your brakes.

You know what??? You might have driven over some plastic (a bag, some wrapping of sorts, etc) and not have noticed it.

It could be stuck to your muffler -- and when you drive, with the heat it melts away the plastic, making it smell like burning/melting plastic.

Check under you car -- and see if you see what appears to be melted, and dried plastic (it's really hard at normal temp).

This happened to me not too long ago -- and it's annoying b/c it smells all the time......It won't really damage your car, but you will just have to wait for it to finally burn off.

Brake pads sometimes have a pine-like smell when they're new. If they were cured right, though, the smell should dissipate quickly.

But if it's a horrible smell and very noticeable every time you drive the car, it's not normal and you should take your car back to the shop that serviced it last. If they can't fix the problem, take your car to a competent, ASE-certified brakes technician.

You shouldn't smell anything except the smell of the new rubber on the tires.

Maybe the guy didn't adjust the brakes right, if you have rear drum breaks. Maybe you are smelling brakes.

Probably just the pads. But I would take it back to be certain. I had the same thing and it was the pads. But I'm not an expert.

Bring the car back to re-check- what if they forgot something on hot exaust? New brakes or tires should make burnt plastic smell.
Let them re-check it.

that doesn't sound normal you might want to get it checked out before it becomes a serious problem
