I just recently replaced the alternator which supposedly was the starting problem 2 weeks ago. The battery terminals are clean and secured tightly by the terminal cables. And there is enough battery fluid. Confused as to what is the problem is now or if there still is a persisting problem...

Most likely, the problem is the battery. The clicking is the solenoid pulling in but there isn't enough voltage to turn the starter over. A good method would be to check the battery voltage with a meter just before you try to start it. Should be about 12.6 or above. Leave the meter on the terminals and have someone try to start it. The meter will probably drop to less than half the required voltage. And the other answerer is correct, Auto Zone or other auto parts store will check if for you if you don't have a meter.

Generally, the click click click that you hear is because the battery is dead. If it was the starter, you would not hear the clicking. The fact that the car runs after it is jumpstarted means that the alternator is holding the charge, thus keeping your car running.

You need to replace the battery.

Yes, the battery could be dead. After jump starting, you're running off the alternator. I'm surprised the person who replaced the alternator didn't have the battery checked.

Or it could just be the starter.

95%+ of the time when this happens it is the cables, corrosion. take the positive and negative battery cables off and clean the cable aends and the battery post/terminals. that is most likely the case.

if your cable is making a good connection the most likely problem is the battery. your starter is ok if it starts with jumper cables.

If your battery is more than 42 months old, replace it

sounds like it, if you are in the US, take it to a service station, or a store like AutoZone where they can check the battery.

It could be the alternater, the starter or the solenoid.
