It would probably be cheaper to trade your car in and get a color you like.
A lot depends on how much you are willing to spend and what color you want to paint it. If you want a light color, you will have to remove the old paint. Do you want the under side of the hood and inside of the trunk painted? Do you want the shop to paint around body add ons or remove everything first, such as lights, door handles, grille, window trim. Do you want the doors and weather stripping removed to paint door edges, frames, etc. How many finish coats do you want? Do you want a clear coat, final coat.
A first class job, that covers all of the old paint job might be $4,500.00 to $5,000.00. Stay away from Earl Scheib. They are the world's worst car painters. Their advertised price is for one spray coat of paint. If the car is not clean, they'll paint right over the dirt.
If you go to sell your car and the buyer sees that it was repainted a different color he might get suspicious and think the car was wrecked or stolen in the past.

It could go into the thousands. Call around and get the best price and make sure the companies are affiliated with the Better Business Bureau. BTW, MAACO is the worse place for a piant job.

You can probably have it done at Maaco for around $300. They just paint over your car's existing finish, with little or no "prep" work. Although this is the cheapest way, it is not the best.
