I drive a '97 Ford T-bird with 108,877 miles on it,A/C cold as alaska, original motor and trans. I have no major problems with my car,I drive 37 miles round trip to and from work everyday,so it's my daily driver. I work in an Acura dealership fixing Acuras. Mostly transmissions on TL's and MDX. If Fords suck, why am I able to drive to work everyday to go fix Acuras that are broken? And no because I'm a mechanic doesn't mean I fix my car. I haven't touched my car other than change the oil regularly.

I have a '90 Chevy G-20 panel van. The 305 cid is blown and the 10-bolt rear-end will need to be replaced. Is it possible to have a smaller 6 cyl motor installed instead of the 305? I'm looking for gas milage. The van will only hold a small amount of amateur radio gear and may only pull a small, lawn-mower trailer for the gasoline-powered power generating unit.

It starts up, but seems to take awhile to idle proper. Then when Im drinving about a mile or so, it doesn't seem to have much power anymore and when I come to a stop or hit the brakes, it dies out. It almost seems like it is getting flooded easily, but could be something totally different. No nothing about a simple little engine...Could a tune up solve the problem? Or is it something else?

I recently had tow lights come on in my car a 97 pontiac grand am and they said the problems were

front wheel hub w/abs and harness (my abs and low track lights were on this is what they said needed to be done) this work $533

also the valve cover gasket lower and upper seeping (coliant light coming on- note I just went here and they replaced my radiator when my light was on before- even after this it still came on and this above was what they said now needed to be done) total cost for new work would be $800 to fix

Are these things life threating? (for I don't have 1200 to spend right now!)

Thanks

What are some of the things that could make a fuel pump go out. A friend of mines went out a few weeks ago and they said something was put in it. What could be put in it to make it just weaken and quit working? Water?

Our Dodge caravan has good battery power to crank the engine, but it doesn't turn over. We suspect the 0-2 sensor because we have been using a lot of gas lately, and we thought that maybe it wasn't sending the right signals to get the right fuel mix. So maybe it was going out, and now is out.

The blend door is vacuum actuated and seems to remain seated when the RPM increases. (The blend door actuator doesn't change positions as RPM increases.) It goes from warm to cool correctly. The system is charged properly. I brought it to the shop and the tech told me everything outside is working properly. I checked all the vacuum connections... they seem to be seated properly.

I have daytime running lamps on my caliber. when the car is in drive the running lamps are on. when you turn on the headlamps for normal night time intensity, the driver side lamp does not come on. Also when you turn on the left or right turn signal the corresponding daytime running lamp turns off until you turn the turn signal back off.

i have already replaced the cap and rotor and coil and double checked the spark plug wire placement but cannot get any fire. going crazy here trying to figure this thing out. the coil and the hot wire to the battery get warm but no fire. engine turns over good and has fuel to the carb. just seems to be an electrical problem. what other common parts may need replacing?
