ok i have aq 92 ford bronco with a 5.0 and a E40D transmission.it shifts hard and slips,but when i turn the overdrive off it acts fine.whats the problem?

Your electronic sensor for the over-drive in the tranny is defective

used to have the same problem with an old ford Taurus. known fact is that ford went cheap in the 80's and put aluminum parts in their trannies that usually don't live much past 125k miles. you can try flushing, replacing the filter but it probably won't work...change the transmission or get rid of that junk

Dose it have a kick down cable if it dose then it could be ti tight if it don't then the O/D unit is going bad or the planterries are going out of the trans.
