I recently had tow lights come on in my car a 97 pontiac grand am and they said the problems were

front wheel hub w/abs and harness (my abs and low track lights were on this is what they said needed to be done) this work $533

also the valve cover gasket lower and upper seeping (coliant light coming on- note I just went here and they replaced my radiator when my light was on before- even after this it still came on and this above was what they said now needed to be done) total cost for new work would be $800 to fix

Are these things life threating? (for I don't have 1200 to spend right now!)

Thanks

If the ABS and the low track light is on then you more than likely you need the computer reset. Sense its a 97 you will have to take ti to someone with a scanner to reset it for you.At far as the valve covers leaking it wont hurt anything it will just use a little oil or leak it i should say. As for low coolant light just make sure you have antifreeze in the plastic tank on the passenger side under the hood and dont worry about that light its pdobley stuck anyway thats the case most of the time

The abs light on just means brakes will act like normal brakes(may skid) a harness is common prob, I would try just harness first, its cheap, if light stays off its fixed , the lower intake gasket is also common problem, they redisigned gasket, new ones dont leak, if you keep system full (top off radiator when cold) you should be fine untill you can afford, but if coolant is getting into oil( engine oil turns white) you have to fix or engine will be ruined

Hey girlfriend, lemme clue ya, what ya do is find a good looking guy that is a backyard mechanic and dress real cool and start flirting with him, when he takes the bait kind of drop the hint that your car has probs and you don't have a clue and, how you need a really smart, strong, dependable man to help you out (bat eyelashes and look helpless as you pout). That way he will fix it for you (all you do is buy the parts) and may even get the parts for you! Nye

THE HUB IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART TOGET FIXED FIRST AND MORE THAN LIKELY SOMEONE YOU KNOW CAN PUT THIS ON. YOU CAN ACTUALLY CHECK THIS PART TO SEE IF IT IS COMING APART BY JACKING UP YOUR CAR AND SEEING IF YOUR WHEEL WOBLES IF IT DOES GET IT REPLACED IMMEDIATLELY. AS FAR AS YOUR COOLANT LIGHT THE SENSOR IN THE PLASTIC TANKS LIKE TO GET STUCK AND JUST NEEDS A NEW SENSOR. YOUR OIL LEAKS IN THE VALVE COVER WON'T HURT AS LONG AS YOU CHECK YOUR OIL REGURALY. THEY DON'T LEAK AS MUCH AS YOU MAY THINK OR LOOKS. I WOULD WORRY ABOUT YOUR WHEEL BEARINGS THE MOST BECAUSE IF THEY ARE BAD THE WHEELS ACTUALLY COULD COME OFF. YOU CAN HAVE ANYONE CHECK THIS REALLY QUICK BY THE WAY I SAID EARLIER. IF YOU LIVE IN MICHIGAN I CAN TAKE A LOOK AT IT AND GIVE YOU A FREE ESTIMATE.

probley just have a wheel sensor going bad. abs & traction control both controled those sensors. they work like a magnet, they sense little ribs that are in the rotors, and can be checked. sometimes you can just clean the brake dust &debis off sensors.go find you another shop that repair should of been covered ,problem was'nt fixed right first time.lights is just letting you know there is a problem, those systems just won't work the way they should.take your time and price around ,you can get it fixed for alot less.

Find yourself a independent good mechanic not a dealer that can build cars or a hobbist ask them to do the work. It will be half the cost of a dealer I perfer a person who races cars and have a shop.

Well first of all I wouldnt pay anythign to fix a grand pree they are very crappy cars. You need toget a different car. grand prixs are nothing but trouble. They are as bad as a ford. you should try a buik regal or a chevy lumina or something like that those are pretty good cars.
