.no don't mix them, two different compounds. also the r12 does remove more heat than the r134. that's why the newer cars have bigger evaporators and condensers, because the r134 wont remove as much heat. it will cool but you will lose about 10- 15 degrees of cold air.also the metering or-fices should be changed. they make a retrofit kit. depends what state you live in. you might have to take it to a ac garage.

R-12 and R-134 are not compatable. The two chemicals have different specific gravities. The R-12 must be completley drained and the system upgraded with different orifice sizes in some of the tubing.

Yes you do need to remove all the r-12 but that's all you have to do Ive done this my self with 30 or 40 cars and they work just fine. Just take out the r-12 and then use and airgun and blow out the lines then just get 2 cans if R-134A and one can of R134A with oil charge in it and that all you will need except the adapter to put it in with

You have to refit your system to take R134a. The molecules in R134a refrigerant are approximately 20% smaller than R12 (Freon), which means that they cannot be combined, and if R134a is introduced in to an R12 system, it will just leak out. The two systems are not compatible.
