My father purchased a 1995 Dodge Ram 1/2 ton pick-up in March of 2006, from a private dealer. On December 28th, 2006, I was driving it and shut the heater blower down and then turned it back on. At that point it hesitated and when it came on I could smell the wiring burning. The truck caught fire and is now a total loss.
Should someone (the previous dealer or Dodge)have notified the new owner of any recalls or potential problems with this truck? The insurance company asked if he had the Ignition recall fixed. That recall was obviously before he purchased it and he knew nothing about it. Who knows what other recalls there were on the truck and not attended to. Is there a Liability factor there somewhere?
