Yes ..... I 2nd That.... 383 is using a 400 Crank in a 350 block... In A Chevy..... Thats how it got its nick name Stroker....

But in a Mopar (Dodge, Phymouth or Chrysler)... Its still just a 383 Crank in a 400. Both are the same crank in almost the same block ... the 383 to the basis for any 400 Mopar engine...
400 is 6.6 Liter and 383 is just 6.3 Liter... Hope you got some better heads for that 400, and intake....

Auto Zone has a Crank Kit for 276.00 ? Steel/Forged # 13368
There are other places to get one...

The Forged Steel Crank is alot better than Cast...

Balancing is to help it last longer, so if you Don't Re-balance you can just simply cause undo wear to a full out vibration's... Best to have it checked...

I agree with Strange on Re-Balancing...
Also it Never hurts to ask Questions. ...

Yes, balance the entire rotating assembly! You can do more damage not balancing everything. excessive imbalance can break rods, cranks, wear out bearings too fast, not to mention the usual catastrophic damage caused by breaking a rod or crank. NOt sure if the 400 uses an internal or external balance, but the best way to go is to take the entire reciprocating assembly including the balancer and flexplate/flywheel to the engine shop. You can probably set it up for either internal or ecternal balance. Balancing your assembly removes the unwanted harmonics in the engine resulting in longer bearing life and some power gains.

what makes a 383 a 383 is a 350 block with a 400 crank, just get it all rechecked with the rods and have it re balanced cause you are using different rods than what the 383 had.Rods, crank, flywheel, and dampner need to all be balanced together
