As much as I like to think I know a lot about cars, I can't fix Porsches. I don't have the know how to not screw it up, and I no longer have access to a shop with the equipment I would need to bring help.
So I take it to a shop (few claim to be able to fix porsche here so options are sparse). They all talk to me like I don't know what the hell is going on. Even when I explain to them I understand what they're saying without the dumbing down. I don't take crap for easy stuff like "rotating tires has nothing to do with the tire wear, you have to get it aligned and we're the only ones who can do it, for $150". Cause I'm not dumb. But when I know the clutch has to be fixed and I end up with a new one AND master & slave cylinder for $2800 instead of "a max of $1600" theres not much I can do about it. it isn't driveable, I need it asap, they did the work & can claim any amount for it .
Is there Anything I can do to avoid getting raped on repairs?
P.s please no smartass "sell it" answers!

I'm looking for a black wing mirror, passenger side, for a Suzuki Jimny. I looked on Ebay but no luck.

I fairly recently had the clutch, stick, master and slave cylinders replaced. Probs shifting, so I brought it back got it taken care of. Same week back for oil change and all that. Day later driving to work (on the highway) and it starts making this clicking noise towards the front of the car, but doesn't sound as far as the engine. Doesn't click when I take it out of gear. But then it goes away for a few months. Just started clicking again, but only when I drive it on the highway and it is loud now. When I drive in the city it has no probs. I fear it is the tranny, but I can't afford to get raped buy repairs again, and when would anything on the tran not be expensive.
Any solution? Even if I keep it off the highway, is it something that has to be taken care of soon, or at all?
I promised my husband I wouldn't waste my money on it anymore. Should I try to sell it again for a huge loss in what I've put into it or should I just run it into the ground?

I have a two-stroke engine that asks for 50:1 gas:oil. If i don't have the tools to make an exact ratio, is it better to be richer on the oil, or richer on the gas?

I have only about two thousand to spend and am looking to buy a very economical vehicle, preferably a manual trans., import, 4 cylinder, front-wheel drive. Around 120,000 miles. I've bought a few cars in the past that haven't done well at all and I need this for college. The make or model doesn't matter. In any case, I'm selling the one I have too.

My Taurus could not start today. When I turned the key, I heard the crank( lasting for about 1 second), but shortly I heard some noise like "da da da da...". It sounded like coming from starter(but not 100% sure). Of course, I tried to jump it but did not work out. I am wondering what is the problem. Could it be a bad battery or bad starter(with bad gear)?

I have a Toyota Corolla with 105K miles. It started one month ago in the morning: Once in a while the car would not start on first turn. Last week it started happening more often. lights are on and there is a faint click from the front.
Starter? Alternator or something else?
