Differring opinions here, so I'll put my 2 cents in. I have the 2005 Cobalt LS Sedan, and have no problems, currently almost have 50,000 miles on it. Regular maintenance such as oil and filter changes and rotating and balancing tires are all that's been done on it. It's as quiet as the day I bought it almost 1 and 1/2 years ago. Excellent gas milege. Good buy for the price. Vast improvement over the Cavalier.
The SS Cobalt is open for modders. So if you can afford it, get it.

Do your research before falling in love with the look. It didn't get the best reviews. Plus, if it's like the older Cavaliers, buy two so that you'll have something to drive while the other's in the shop. Plus, expect immediate depreciation as Cobalts are not going to have a high resale value if they are anything like the Cavliers they replaced.

For the price of the Cobalt you get get a much better compact car in terms of quality, gas mileage and reliability.

I own a "luxury" GM product and I can tell you from firsthand experience that the quality is simply not there, nor is the customer service. The whole 100,000 mile warranty is simply a gamble to try to sell more cars. If they were simply that reliable they wouldn't have to use this sort of gimmick to try to offset the image of unreliability. I would be very wary.

Both will be good performers Co bolt SS if you like getting into small street races wit imports and some other domestics too just for red light laugh ts, HHR SS is a funny looking retro panel wagon that's the answer to having a supercharged PT cruiser, its not much to look at the style says "new aftermarket parts" hot rodding, but its up to you I like the Cobolt ss just the way it looks and the engine can make extreme power through GM's performance Parts. The HHR SS would throw every one off if you were to modify it. kinda stealth and you could beat a srt-4 in a 1/4 mile race wit both. The GM Performance built Cobolt SS beat the better of imports like( Integra Type R, Civic SI, S2000 which was its biggest competition, RSX Type s, VW R32, BMW Z3) at the BF Goodrich track finials coming 2ND to the more powerful Mits EVO 7 in total track time. Cobolt beat em in handling, engine performance brake performance & this car was the first Gen colbolt released too...

Chevrolet has a bad reputation for making undependable 4 cyl engines. That one has a supercharger which builds good power but shortens engine life. And last I checked, the price was too high of these cars and the value doesnt hold at all, as in it will be worth less than half of what you pay for it in a year or less. On top of all that is a very low rating for side impact on the coupes. So to wrap up, if you want a car that will require maintenance regularly, isnt too safe to ride in and will drop in value so fast you wont be able to sell it when you want or need to,,,sure, go ahead.

Yes (as far as the Cobalt goes) but no, on the hot pink. Don't ya think ruining the Cavalier was enough?
