Hi guys..
I am planning on buying my very first car. I just need your opinion and/or advice on what I should do. I have found a used 91 Toyota Corolla, reliable but ugly- needs shocks, paint job, exhaust, fix AC and grill. Its only $500. Should I go ahead and buy it, and fix it up OR just go to a dealership for a newer and nicer car and just pay the monthly payment?
What would you do? Thanks!

It's a 4x4 Automatic with 29,500 miles.

They are asking $14,500, but said they would let it go for $13,500...

Am I getting a good deal?

My car got repo'd yesterday and the dealer told me i have to pay the entire balance before i get the car back. The balance is 1,705.00, but i'm behind 500.00. He told me i have 10 days or he is reselling the car. In my contract there is no clause that states the dealer has the right to request the full balance but only what is past due. The dealer is a buy here pay here place. Any legal advice on getting my car back since i'm only behind 500.00 and they refuse to accept payment from me unless it is 1,700.00?

i my ex got me this car when we were together.innocently, i thought adding my name to it would really make it mine! so we had both names as Owners ( NOT one person AS A COSIGNER).my name was first cos i got better credit than him. well when we broke up, he said i should voluntary ask our creditor to reposses the car. i did not want to mess up my credit so i kept on with all the payments by myself for about 9 months without a late payment. then my ex called me up and said he will take the car and make the payments and i will only be responsible for the insurance. i thought it would be a relief not paying over $500 a month!!! about 3 months after he had the car i got a call from the car company saying our account has been on default for 2 months....i called him up and he said he can't afford the car and i will need to take it for a couple of months.then he said i should lend him some money to pay off the late payments. i said no.

Im trading in my 2005 Honda Civic EX Special Edition. My dad signed for the car in '05 and I co-signed. Ive made all of the payments since day one, every single penny. Can I trade my car in without my dad being there? Is this possible to go to a dealer alone and trade it in? I dont have the title, the bank does, because i still owe about $14,000 on it.Thanks so much!

After about six months I've realized that 1)I don't need the size car I leased and 2) that I didn't lease my last car and wish I hadn't leased this one
How can I get out of it or switch cars w/o messing up my credit. I don't have problems with the payments and can afford it, I just don't want the one I have. Can I swap it for a purchase? The lease is for 36 months, so I'm looking at another 2 1/2 years.

My wife and I just bought a brand new Toyota 4Runner. We put $6000 down and pay $560/month at an APR of 3.9% for a 60 month term. I think our monthly payment is way too steep. We should've put down more.

I'm just curious out there. If you ever bought an SUV, how much did you put down, what is your APR, and how much do you pay per month?

Ok, here's a hypothetical, so please try to imagine it in the real world.
You own say a Lumina that is about ready for the junkyard.
You are on a limited budget and can't buy a car for less than 10K.
You want another sedan and after looking all over at other cars you find a Ford Taurus in immaculate condition.
Low miles, lots of options, all maintenance done and records kept.
It fits the bill. And with that the owner is offering 7500 but won't go less than 7,000 on the asking price.
Would you be willing to buy it or keep looking for something better?

I want to buy a 2001 Yukon XL. Price compared to book value is extremely favorable, but they will only go out to 48 months. Will any other lender go 60 months, or is it industry-wide? I can't afford the payment at 48 months, so I'd have to find another much cheaper vehicle at 48 months, or get a newer one. Then I'd have to pay more overall just to get the payments down, plus pay more to register and insure it.

I'm looking into used Porsche Boxsters and 911's/Carrera's and have found plenty used ones from 2000 - 2005 for under 35k.
What are the pro's and con's about the different models - being used and not the latest ones?
How many miles should they have as a maximum?
How should I go at buying the car, should I have someone inspect it first, who is from an objective and reliable company (If so, who do you suggest?)?
Which website do you suggest to look for the car? (I'm at cars.com and ebay.com)

I'm happy to hear any other tips and tricks!

Constructive answers only, please!

Thanks a lot!
