Unfortunately, it's quite difficult to find good, dependable cars for under $1,000. i know this from personal experience... I bought a '96 Dodge Intrepid for $2,000 and that was a very good deal for a car that is already that old... Your best bet for a dependable car would be an older Honda Civic, but it would have to be made in the '80s or early '90s. They always cost a bit more. Otherwise, I guess just keep an eye on the internet and the classifieds.

Your not going to find any dealer that is going to give you car that is under a grand that's worth your time. It's either going to have A LOT of miles on it or is a piece of crap. Your best bet is to ask family, friends, and people of that sort because your family (atleast most of time) aren't going to give you a bad car like someone in the classifieds would. But then again if you can find a car that was driven by an old person and they are selling it fo grand, then that would probably be worth it. If I wore you, I would save more money if possible because I rushed into buying my car and I wish I had waited and had more money when searching for a car.

gonna be hard to find a car thats dependable for under a grand and one that gets good mileage as well is becoming more and more scarce. i'd suggest having your parents ask around among friends or co-workers. i have found several this way. seems there is always someone trying to get rid of a car that had no trade in value and sometimes folks with older parents will get rid of their cars when they can no longer drive or soon after they die. i have found several decent cars using this method. just get the word out that you are looking and usually someone will contact you. be extra careful when checking the car out as a non running car just means you are still looking and without the original money you started looking with. hope this helps and good luck to you.

Check out Craigslist.com in the autos section for your state and city or area. You will not be able to buy much of a car for under a grand. Certainly not something very dependable. You will have to spend money on whatever you buy at that price range. Craigslist has a free section also. Good Luck.

Good luck for under 1.000 you going to have to know some one with a tow truck. My suggestion is save a small fortune come back when you can play in the street. Yearly insurance will cost you $1,000. Licence tags $100 Gasoline $ 2.85 a gallon. My concern is you get this 1,000 car and it breaks down after licence plates insurance.

Why don't you look it up in the Internet and I would personally recommend a Mustang or an Expedition.
