My wife and I just bought a brand new Toyota 4Runner. We put $6000 down and pay $560/month at an APR of 3.9% for a 60 month term. I think our monthly payment is way too steep. We should've put down more.

I'm just curious out there. If you ever bought an SUV, how much did you put down, what is your APR, and how much do you pay per month?

it originally costed like 35,000 but I got a company discount that knocked off a few grand. It is a V8 sport edition with 4WD in case you are wondering why it's so much. I know my payment is high, but I got a good job to compensate it.

we just bought a toyota fj and i can't remember how much we put down... about $5000 i think and we financed for 72 months, i can't remember what the apr is but our note is 460 a month but we pay more. that is what you guys should have done, financed for a longer term and paid more than your note so you can pay the car off early. i did the same thing with my matrix 4 years ago, i paid it off three years early and saved a lot in interest.

How much you pay per month depends on how much the car cost and your apr. You can go to an on-line calculator (yahoo has them) type in all the info to see if your monthly payment is accurate.

Telling you what we pay for our Ford Explorer doesn't really help because it depends on the total price. (if you really must know its under 500/mo but we have 0% apr).

Your payment does sound steep, but if the dealer did his/her math right then you have to pay it or return the car.

If you decide to keep it - my advice is pay more than the minimum - you will pay your car off faster!

That's a lot, they really didn't give you much of a deal. Sheez that's more than my rent on my studio apartment. Plus the gas she is going to have to pay will be a lot also. I would have got a small four door car maybe a cavalier or something. But i guess it depends on what you like more a nice big SUV or money in the bank.
I always buy my stuff used and pay it off with cash. Just takes a lot of saving and patience

I bought a 2008 Buick Enclave. I pay 516.10 a month. I put 20,000 down. (Yes, that's 20 thousand bucks.) My APR is 5.9% and I have it on a 36 month term.

Good Luck.

I think you got taken for a ride at the dealership. You should have been negotiating a sale price for the vehicle, not a monthly payment.

Well when we bought ours we didn't put anything down, got a vehicle loan from our bank, 5.6 %, for 60 months and pay $269.52 a month.
