I'm trying to sell my car, but not sure what I should set my asking price to. I've looked at KBB, Edmunds, and Nada and they all have wide range in private party value. Should I just take the average? Is one of them more accurate than the others? Is there some other source I should look up?

This may be a bit confusing...
I'm moving to California from Minnesota and am buying a new car before hand. I checked out how much it would cost to register my car. I have to pay the sales tax difference between the two states, about $400.

My fried is moving from Wisconsin to Minnesota and she just bought a new car. Tax is about 1.4% less in Wisconsin, so she would have to pay about $350. She was told she wouldn't have to pay the difference though.

If this is true, why would you have to pay the difference in one state and not in the other? Or is she just mistaken?

Would you pay a fee to an independant third party automotive expert for advice on buying and selling automobiles? If you think you would, what would you pay for such advice? What qualifications would the expert need to possess for you to feel the advice was worth paying for.

I am buying a new car and want to use my car as a trade-in. I have a 93 Grand Prix and it is in pretty rough shape. How would I find out how much my car is worth including the oil leak it has, some body damage. Please don't say Kelly Blue Book b/c that seems to only apply to newer cars.

I need to get a new car, something bigger than my grand am. Maybe a smaller suv. The problem is I still owe 7,600 on my grand am and it has 85,000 miles. So I need something with low payments and a low rate. HELP!

I'm looking to get a car, either a Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla, for their reliability and resale value. I'm not sure if it is better to buy brand new or to get a 2004 or 2005. Money is not really an optical as far as buying new or used but I don't want to throw my money away. I'd like to get the best value that I could but still have a fairly new and reliable car.

I live in NJ so car insurance is expensive enough. I wanted to finance a used car, i would put down around $2500 and finance the other $7500. But when you finance a car you need collision insurance. Is it cheaper with a used car? I don't think i can afford both!

Ok, so I've been looking to buy my first car. I can't spend a whole lot, so I found a 1997 Honda Civic on autotrader. It has about 125,000 miles on it and they (the dealership) are asking $3995. It has all the features I would want, but I'm worried about the number of miles on it! I don't know anything about cars, and I just wouldn't want it to break down! What do you think?

I don't know anything about cars but I am buying a car from a guy for cash. I was wondering, what do I have to do to get it transferred in my name? Go to the DMV? And... If I pay cash, how do I prove that I payed for it? Couldn't he say I never payed? And is there any other smarter method than cash? Thanks.

Hello guys,

I am currently considering buying Toyota Camry 2001 with 102K miles. It is black and look very nice from outside, very clean from inside also. The car had one owner only and sold on Auction for the dealer who owned it for last month.

The dealer located in Northern Los Angeles. He wants to sell it for 7k wit tax and registration. CarFax indicated that the car never ever been in accident, and was serviced when it had 55K miles.

How do you feel of mileage ? Does such mileage mean that I need to do a lot of mechanic.

My roommate and I were in the market to buy a used car from a private seller, and found one online: a Bronco, which was advertised as "in great shape" and "runs well". Once we purchased the car, we found out what a terrible mistake we made--the car is undriveable, completely rusted out, and has several major problems that make it really only desirable for a junkyard.

The private seller and I signed a written agreement that the title would be handed over upon full payment. We have paid over 3/4 of the price, but now neither want nor need the title or the vehicle.

We are in Colorado. I need to know, is there any way I can force him to take the car back and return the money we have already paid to him? The car is such a piece of **** (as is the seller, by the way), and his advertisement of it was completely false. Please help.

Dealer had posted a picture of the car on the Internet. The scratch is visible on picture. I had prints of the car made at Wal-Mart. I am in CA. Able I protected under the law even though the car was sold "As-Is".

I have a loan with my ex. She is hounding me to get her off it. I can't refinance without a co-signor and no one will help. I can't sell it because I need a car and can't pay the difference. Any auto salesmen out there who can give me some advice? Pretty much any option with me selling, paying, getting another loan, etc... is not an option. Will any dealers take it and trade it towards a different car. I found it's worth $6500 KBB for private sale($7500 at most) but would get up to $9500 at a dealer. I owe $8500.
