I have been selling cars for seven years. There are many appropriate gifts for salesmen. Here are a few examples:

cards or thank-you letters are always appropriate and appreciated. I knew one salesman who was so touched that he had the letter framed. When the customer canback and purchased again, the customer was impressed that he had thought so much of something so simple.

Many customers have given food. Homemade cakes or pies, or even lunch or a gift certificate for a local restaurant are common gifts. Salesmen snack a lot and our hours are long, so food is always appreciated.

Cash tips are always welcome, but are reare and unexpected. In seven years of selling, I have only gotten three cash tips.

A toy cars, a keychain, or perhaps a hat or sunglasses may also be good. Many salesmen collect one item or another that is relatively inexpensive.
For example: If you know that your salesmen collects hats, bring him a hat with your work logo or maybe a local sports team logo.

I used to have a dog, so a customer gave me a rawhide bone for the dog. She was trying to show that not only was she thankful, she was attentive and took me seriously.

I do not recommend spending over 20 on a gift.

What, is he a hunk or something? Don't give him anything. Do you give the sales people in the shoe store gifts? He makes a commission.

If he helped you a lot and was a great person then write a nice letter to the dealership's management telling them so.

i have had a customer give me a gift card to a restaraunt. this is awesome for a salesman, because we eat what we can, when we can, and sometimes don't have much time to eat at all.

very nice of you to think of your sales person so highly, they must have done an awesome job!

also, let them know you would be interested in doing a testimonial for a commercial. would be fun for both of you.
