My car won't start. When I turn the key, I hear rapid clicking sounds. I have read elsewhere that this may be an indication that my battery is dead, but the radio/wipers/lights all work. Can they still work even if my car won't start due to the battery?

There was one of those highway department signs that said "your speed is". I had my cruise set at 55 and when I went through, the sign said 51 mph.

I thought I would just have to subtract 4 miles from whatever speed my speedometer said, but my husband said that wouldn't be right. He said that as my speed increased, so would the difference in the mph. So how do I figure out (without being stopped by a patrolman) just how fast I'm traveling?

Here is the situation:

I have a 1998 Ford Taurus-AIr and Heat broke-No warranty left on it-dearlship wants 1,500 to fix it-I owe $3,000 left because I bought used over a year ago.

I live in 100 degree weather during summer so I need the A/C.

I am buying a brand new car in January 2008 from a settlement coming this lat fall.

What I want to do is trade one mor time my taurus for another used car to get me to the end of the year. Can I trade in the taurus with a $2,500 remaining balance for another used car around $5,000 so I have heat and A/C thru the remainder of the year.

What do I need to know to make this happened about trade in's and dearlships?

I know I will be upside down on the loan and it be placed on the other car. How much cash should I offer at trade in? And will they even take it with the ac/heat broken knowing its a crappy car?

Any tricks of the trade or info in what I can do in this situation will be most helpful.

I am from the UK but was recently in USA and was driving Jeep Grand Cherokee. I tried using the cruise control but the only way I could find to turn it off was tapping the breaks. (I did not want to break, but just slow down for something).

Surely this is very annoying to the people behind, especially if they're in a smaller car and cannot see past you?

I have a 1950 ford f-1 and I upgraded it to 12 volt and it runs great. However it doesnt charge the battery because the battery keeps dieing. Right now i have everything wired as it was in the 6V way with the 1 wire from the alternator hooking in the back of the dash boards power area. Where should it be. Thanks

People who drive around with handicap tags and talking on a cell phone. This bugs me. Fine be handicap but take your tag out of the window and use it for parking only.

I was just wondering if a loose spark plug can cause a car to break down on the side of the road?

My perfectly maintained Avalon XLS has low mileage( 49,000 miles). Its engine has been extremely quiet, so far. But in the last couple of weeks, I noticed that when I accelerate while doing low speed (about 45 mph, at 1800 rpm), I started hearing a muffled roaring noise. It is hard to pinpoint the source or direction of the noise, whether it comes from the front or from underneath. Cursory inspection shows the tail pipe and muffler to be in perfect shape. What could be the cause of the noise ? I certainly would appreciate some suggestions. Thanks.
