O/K Let me expand a little. NO big blue spark swap coil works on other bike not mine. no LT output from cdi. yes it is old 1984 FT500 (Yes STILL fighting to get it going ) caint swap cdi for other as probably only bike within 1000kls with one. Have "factory spects" but can only be tested with "factory" multymeter - aint one in the whole country! Need an ADDRESS to which I can RELIABLY send (post) my unit so as to eliminate one way or the other if this is where the problem is. Life aint easy for an old biker liveing in the bush in Uganda - caint "pop" into the nearest "Honda" dealer 2000 "klicks" away!

Found this for you. Says they ship worldwide. It seems a bit pricey for a used item though.

Look in the phone book for a motorcycle repair shop that works on that brand of bike. A shop manual with specs and procedures are needed. Even that is fallible. The best way is to swap if with a known working one (put yours on a bike that runs).
Pardon my ignorance, do you guys across the pond use phone books?

Hi. Is that a capacitive discharge ignition? Didn't know they still made those! Some classic bike dealer will be sure to have a tester, but essentially if you get a blue spark across the plug it should be OK.
