Late 90s Honda Civic SI or Acura Integra would probably be the best overall car for the given specifications. Depending upon your mechanical capabilites, you might consider a mid to late 80s Porsche 944. Quite fun and very well made. But finding someone to work on them can be challenging, so working on them yourself is usually your best bet. It all really depends on what you mean by "fast."

but... it'll cost you a lot more than ur 5k budget when it comes to maintanence and repair...
with 5k, you are really not expecting to get any good car... i mean fast and reliable.

an older trans am or camaro, just check yahoo cars used and look for those cars and put in your price and it will only pull those up....that easy!
