How hard is it to fix the serpentine belt on my '97 Ranger (3.0 Liter)? How are is it to replace the air filter? How much do the parts cost? I'm not bad at fixing things, but I have never worked on a car before. Is there some where I can get directions to fix these things?

Garage wants to charge me
$60-Serpentine belt replacement
$20-Air filter replacement

Is it worth the time to do it at home or should I just pay the garage to do it?

In April my younger brother bumped into a police car whilst waiting at some traffic lights. They were both stationary and he took his foot off the brake and rolled into them. The copper went mad at him and then took his details but stated that as NO DAMAGE WAS CAUSED it was not a massive deal. A month later he got a letter saying no further action would be needed but be more careful in the future.
7 months later he gets a call from his insurance company telling him the police have put in a claim against him. This is for damage to the offside rear.
A) The police themselves stated there was no damage
B) He did not hit the offside rear
C) It was 7 months ago!

It seems to me that they have reversed into something and have decided to pass blame to somebody else.
Can they really get away with this?? How can you argue against the police??

tomorrow i will be going to apply for the driving license and i would like to know some tips or tricks on how to pass each test, because i am very scared i won't make it. Like parking, driving straight in, backing out or sth like that. Please give me some tips and advice. Thank you

I've got a Renault Clio mark 2, 1.6 litre automatic, with an alloy sump. I need to replace the sump, so I was wondering if anyone knew the best place to get a replacement from. I've tried local scrapyards, but they don't have the right models in. Cheers

I have a 1997 Vauxhall Astra van (diesel) and in the last couple of days a loud knocking sound is coming from the engine when i accelerate. The engine idles fine without any noises but as soon as you put your foot on the accelerator the noise begins and get faster as the speed picks up, but as soon as you stop accelerating the noise stops. It had an MOT a week ago and nothing was said about any possible problems with the engine at that time.

It's gonna drive me nuts, we just got the car and it's in perfect shape except it don't have the owners manual, the wiper isn't disconnected for any reason, we just cant figure out how to turn the wiper on and use the sprayer to clean the window. the only switch we can see for a wiper controlls the front ones, so if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated thanks.

I recently purchased a 2001 Ford F150 truck. So far everything else works great but neither turn signal will turn off after making my turn. I'm talking either sharp turns or not so sharp. It's annoying but I can live with it but I had rather not. The truck has an airbag in the steering wheel so how much will it cost to get a professional to fix it?

The wire is white, and is located in front of the engine. It is from the group of wires which go to the water temp sensor and the distributor.I am unable to locate where it is to plug into.
