I bought the rubber ones two years later when the carpet ones started wearing out. I got them cheaper through ebay than the dealer. The rubber ones have lasted 5 years and the wear is hardly noticable - and I delivered pizzas with this car - in and out of the car 20 to 40 times daily in the rain and snow (3 months out of the year). I do recommend them, but at the current price of $93 for a set? Pricey.

I agree with making it a part of the sale. Or go on ebay and get a set for less. And who cares if they aren't the same year at the car? If they fit and save your carpet, you're good.

Here is a set for the 93 - 1998 model (at $19.99 at the time of this post) :

Sure. My 2003 Passat with 90,000 on it has a couple of worn out spots on the floor mats where my heels rest, but a couple of cheap floor mats and it will be good as new again. The alternative of pulling out the seats and trim to replace the carpet doesn't bear thinking about.

Yes because it keeps the dirt from your tootsie from getting on the permanent carpet. You can't remove the carpet to clean it so you put floor mats in to take the dirty task and they can be removed to be cleaned. If you sell the car you can replace the floor mats to give it a newer look... Where the original carpet would be difficult to clean and may get worn out from your shoes.

Yes you should. Floor mats take the wear and tear that the carpet otherwise would. If they get worn, you can replace them. Replacing carpeting on the otherhand would be much more expensive.
