Looking to make extra money. Have a push mower, and will gladly mow lawns within a 4 mile radius of my home for cheap prices. Will not be raking the clippings nor any leaves. Will not be using a weed eater either. Wondering if anyone here has done similarly, and made any real money doing it.

What exactly are you entitled to do with a business license and a general excise tax license? Does this allow you to file your own business and personal taxes seperately? (assume that this is all the "small business" has, no LLC, Inc, etc.) Details (specific and general) are appreciated.

If I were to buy landscaping from someone and they offered a 1 year warranty on the plants. Would the warranty still be valid if they shut their business down?

A friend has asked me to help market a sports program. ( I know that doing business with friends can be tricky, so we will definitely have a contract of the terms of our agreement.) There won't be any money coming into the business until the sports programs are purchased by clients.

We have been discussing if I should be paid an hourly rate or a percent of the profits.

My idea (that I haven't presented to my friend yet) is that I should be paid a flat fee to help get the business off the ground. I will handle office type tasks and most of the marketing including preparing mailers and even some travel to visit prospective clients.

I haven't yet calculated how many hours I think all of this will take.

What is the going rate for this type of service? Should I ask for an hourly wage or a flat fee to get things started?

Once the business takes off, should I then get a portion of the profits? If so, what percent?

Thanks for your advice! I had no idea who else to ask

I can't figure out what to name it. I have looked at all the Therapeutic Massage names in the phone book. I need a name that will stand out...A name that every one will know it is a lagitamite business, but will catch their eye when they see it in the phone book or on a business card and/or flyer.
I am American Indian, from the Shawnee Tribe. I thought of Massage by Shawnee, or A massage by Shawnee...you get my drift. I need a name that is catchy. My brain blank as far as a name for my business is concerned. This is a name that will be everywhere I advertise, so it has to be good.

PS: No nasty remarks from the men, please. This is serious!!!

I have a great idea for a website. If done right, it could be a big deal. There are several parts to the idea for which I would want to seek out advice from other subject matter experts. I am concerned that my idea could be passed along to others (or perhaps those who I speak with) who have more resources (money, manpower, etc..) and therefore the ability to have something similar created much sooner than I could. How do I gather advice from others without jeopardizing my idea. Is a Non-disclosure agreement really enough?

My husband and I are starting a small business. We have a domain name and are looking for a good host. I know a little about web design and would like to have the flexibility to insert my own backgrounds, pics, etc. We may need to be able to have an option in the future for our customers to pay invoices online via credit card, etc. We are looking for something affordable and would prefer a free trial. Any suggestions would be great. Thank you!

I am interested in knowing what services or help you need or look for when you are using an affiliate to work from home. I do not need to know about your program or what is working or not, but I am rather interested in what you need to succeed. Examples can include ad copy, email follow-ups, etc.

Help with business name ideas?
I design and make gift baskets. I am in the process of converting this side job into a professional business. I am looking for a catchy name for the new business. Something that says style, class, and uniqueness (like me) but also gives a curiousity, yet tells what it is I do. Not really looking for something so obvious like "Custom Baskets by Me" or "Baskets R Us" but something that's unique so it sticks. I make baskets for all occassions and have a small customer base but hoping to expand with the growth of the business production. All suggestions welcomed. The best of course gets 10 points! Thanks and good luck.
