Just how hard is it to start a store? And, does anybody know of a great "semi-easy to use" method for starting one?

For an online store you need several things. I assume you already have a domain since you have a personal site. So now you need an SSL certificate to securely accept credit cards, a shopping cart feature, and a mechant account to process the credit cards. You can get all of these at http://www.dakotawebhosting.com They have a quick shopping cart you can get that makes setting up a store pretty easy.

Yes, you can change a personal webpage into an ecommerce store.
