I'm still in university but I would like to start my translation business (as a freelancer) this summer. I live in The Netherlands and will be providing translations in English, Spanish and Dutch. I would like to do business internationally therefore the name has to be easy in most languages. It does not necessarily have to reflect the business that I'm in, it can also be a non-existing but catchy word.

I'm open for suggestions!

I intend to import books to Singapore four times a year and sell them without or with very small profit. Do I need a business licence for such a business? Do I need to pay taxes? I'm a permanent resident and would be able to apply for a licence. If I need a licence, what kind of licence and where to apply for?

How attractive is a product like this for salesmen?:

1. It's a B2B (Business to Business) product.

2. You purchase it with the money you get from your client when he orders it. So you really don't have to invest anything.

3. The product costs $700, you sell it at $1200 (or more). So, you earn $500 on just one sale.

4. Most businesses in the United States, Canada and other countries need this product and it's widely sole via the web. However, you will only sell locally in order for you to be successful. If you sell it on the web, like others do, you won't be successful.

5. If you already have friends that have a business or you are a salesman with lots of contacts, you will sell very easily. If you don't have contacts, you can still sell it very well but you will have to visit local businesses in your area. I estimate that in order to make one sale right now, you need to visit from 4-8 businesses. How long does that take you? Not very long, huh?? and you earn $500.

Well, me and my partner thinking about opening a Belgian restaurant but specialize in pancakes, waffles, and some of the belgian chocolates. What do you think it should be like? I am thinking more to a casual/formal restaurant unlike IHOP or Denny's. But we just don't know where to start and what do we need. Do you think this is a good idea? since there are none of belgian restaurant here in the States and not many selling belgian chocolates because it's kinda expensive but the taste is unbeatable :p

or does it give you an idea of what you will be making AFTER you buy the company?

I read some comments on here that dont speak so highly about new service companies (such as my own) cold calling customers looking for new business. I'm looking to make some door hangers for my business and maybe flyers. There are alot of new offices opening up in some areas around me. Any ideas on whats the best approach for new offices and entry into existing ones?? Also how much and who can make door hangers for me?
