It very much depends on what sort of business would interest you. Ten thousand pounds could start a small business but from experience whatever you think will be enough, probably wont be. I know I have been there!
I am now working from home with a business which didn't require anything like that sort of start up investment and which can return a profit very quickly.
It is not a scam, in fact it is endorsed by the billionaire Donald Trump and if you care to contact me I will give you a web address where you can get an overview of the opportunity, this is an international opportunity and the UK is a huge virtually untapped market.

hello there
i am sure you could find something else better to do with your money.but if you want to start your own business you need to study success first.most businesses actually fail within the first year of trading.i started my own business with kleeeneze 3 years ago for £75.i noticed that you have some replies from other homeworking companies, the main thing to do is ask them to do is prove there income and ask what they turnover on a regular basis and how long the company has been going for.if they cant prove it and try to fob you off then dont even consider it.hope this helps you could visit my website if you like!

WIth home-based business, your success depends almost entirely on your skills. Since you didn't mention a word about what you can do and what you like to do, it's very difficult to give you any advice. For example, there are plenty of freelance software developers out there, but if you can't write code, this business is not for you...

I recommend you do a little research with the Business Opportunity Search Engine. Being community driven it’s a cross between a search engine and a Wikipedia. You can add, delete and improve the results for much more focused answers than a general search engine can provide. http://www.BusinessOpportunitySearchEngine.com

Your chances are very poor - to succeed in Business you have to be extremely well focused and determined ... you don;t even know what Business to start !

Whats your main Hobby ?

Are you totally over the top about it ?

Yes - them do something associated with your Hobby.

Example - Football - import & sell Football Shirts

you have loads of options with that sort of money. i started mine up with around £1,000 and had to buy basic office equipment with that.
i would suggest not rushing into anything, and not to put all you eggs into one basket! ie don't got spending all £10k on marketing materials and advertising space to find you need to move office and will have a new address!
you should make a list of things you are interested in, are good at or have skills in then go from there.
make sure you do lots of research and make use of small business advice organisations like business link etc
here are a few links to get you going

do not blame me if it is going incorrect, yet source some super low-priced products from the a techniques east via a internet site listed on the Alexa precise 500 (uncertain if i will call it right here) and ebay them out. constantly tempted to do it myself, yet stressful that somebody gets a greater low fee deal or the dealer dries up on you. considerable answer would be, pay attention of scams.
