Me and my husband are currently renting a home. yesterday we got a call at 11 am from the property manager that he would be there in 2 hrs to "inspect the property" We are 6 monthes into our lease and have rented in the past. I have never heard of such a thing! My husband explained that EVERYONE in the house had the flu and we would appreciate if we could do this another time. Nope he had to do it then. When he got there you would have thought we were doing our walk through at the end of the lease. He went through every room, closet, garage, the yard, etc. Taking notes all the while while basically bullying us and telling me how to "keep house" We are not messy dirty people, we dont put holes in walls, stain up the carpet, we dont let our kids draw on walls, etc. We actually take impecable care of this rental property. This being said we do LIVE in the house and have 2 kids so yes there may be a few dishes in the sink or a few toys pulled out in the play room, but nothing

Someone I know is very nice immigrant from one of the asian countries, and has a beautiful apt in jersey. But a few days ago, i heard that he got caught by town hall inspector by illegally remodeling the downstair to rent to other household. now the tenants(who are closer to friends than tenants cuz they dont pay money) have to move out and make the whole place(downstairs) empty! first i'm shocked that anything done to a personal property is illegal, and i don't understand why he has to be told what to do with it. does he have to keep the downstair place empty for good? even his family members or friends? to me all this sounds like nonsense..

No details. Given the fact there are so many variables like location, contractors, and such, I just need an idea.

Ok, I cant go messing around with my pipes and whatnot, but I do need a filter. I live in a town where we had a chemical leak that contimanated the water, and ever since then it smells and tastes horrid. I dont even feel safe doing my dishes in it.

Can you make some suggestions please?

P.S I had no idea where this question should go. Maybe people in apartments could tell me what they use, or landlords could tell me what I could use without having to install this and that..?

& throughout the house there were big holes n the floor. The plumbing was leaking under the house so bad that inside the house it had a tendency 2 smell moldy at times. When you'd flush the toilet, dirt would come up the drain n the bathtub & wouldn't go back down.Electrical problems as well. She'd plug something n & sparks would go flying everywhere. Then she found out from the gas co. that she had a gas leak. N between all these problems she wrote several detailed letters 2 her landlord & even sent pictures n hopes that he would fix things be4 they got worse.Well, her requests 4 immediate attention were denied. She never got any responses from that man what-so-ever.She decided 2 withhold the rent until repairs were made.He ended up taking her 2 court 4 $5thousand.She didn't have 2 pay him anything but she was evicted anyway & now the repairs r being made.Shouldn't this slumlord b held liable 4 sumthin. It was his neglegence n the 1st place that made her withhold the rent.got any advice?

We have been served notice that the freehold of our flat is up for auction. The property is a large semi detached victorian house converted into 2 flats, in south east London. Our flat is worth 420k and the other flat is worth 385k

Anyone had any experience with this, and any idea how much it is likely to cost?

It crap - why is it that my partner and i work bloody hard and yet we cant live together (with our son).... i have to live with my parents (and my child who is 3) and my partner lives with his parents. he works 8am - 6.30pm every day but sunday and i work 8am-5pm all week yet we cannot get a morgage! i earn £14000 per annum and he earns £16000 per annum. (hopefully he will get payrise next year taking him up to £18000) but this is only enough to get us a morgage for about £107,500 - where we live (and everywhere in local-ish area) all you'd get for that amout is a one bed flat/maisonette - we cant do that cos of our child. it just sucks..i know there r people out there in same boat - does it get you all down?? or am i just ungrateful for wanting to make a home for me and my family?

My neighbor has a L shaped lot his house sits next to mine but he ownes a 1 acre field behind my property, my lot is 90X180, he has moved his shed 5 feet behind the rear of my property, it is a eyesore, the shed faces my land. Local zoning states the shed has to be in the rear or side of his land, I'm not sure how to classify that because it is in the front part of the field. He has also built a garage on the 1 acre field and now has started to drive threw my side yard to access it, he drives along his border and mine driving about 1 foot into my land, im starting to get upset because he ran over my childs soccer ball that was on my property, the land has been surveyed and is clearly marked, I have advised him to stop using my land, and i was going to put up tomato stakes and rope off the property border untill i can get a fence.

I am thinking about moving to Washington state, but I'd like to know more about the real estate there. I like the Port Angeles/Forks/La Plush area (northwest of the northwest).

Also, if anyone has any information about other inexpensive northern, green, western states (Oregon, etc) that might be nice to live, please let me know (and give city/county names) THANKS!

My fiance and I have recently bought a house and moved out of our apartment. When we did the final walk through at the apartment they said their only concern was a small dirt stain in the living room and a small stain in my son's bedroom that I'm pretty sure was spilled pop. Both of the stains I'm sure would've come out with carpet cleaning they even said that the stains should come out; but today we just got a bill from them saying they had to replace all the carpet and they're keeping our $300 deposit and we owe them another $400 that they want in 7 days or they'll send this to collections. Is there anything that we can do to fight this? Or can we atleast demand that they give us the old carpet since we're paying for it?

I have a subprime loan, mortgage went up an additional $1000.00 a month, and my income has changed for the worse, and I am upside down in the mortgage and can't re-finance. The mortgage company tells me I owe $323,500 which includes costs. My mortgage balance was $299,000 before I defaulted 7 mos. ago. Costs seem excessive ($23,500). More then likely the house won't sell. Other then a bankruptcy, what are my options?

I was the buyers agent on a single family home purchase. An agent in my office who knew my buyer, went to the buyer and had him cancel the purchase, then he rewrote it with the buyer's brother-leaving out all the important details of the home purchase-like the fact that both walls in the home were filled with black mold, the house is leaning on the one next door and doctored the appraisal to trick the lender into giving a higher loan-it was over a million dollar transaction! In the process I was cut out of the deal. Apparently it was legal and I have no recourse. I really, truly think that was a sneaky and very unethical thing for that agent to do. I want to get him back...any suggestions?

My house went up for a tax sale and someone purchased the certificate. They are about to foreclose. My father is on SS disability and we live in New Jersey. He is half owner of the house which he shares with a brother. The house is paid off except for the taxes. Are there any programs, loans, or any help out there that can save my house?
