as long as they paid their share of the rent.

This is not a good idea. You are considering rooming with someone whom I'm assuming has no visible means of support. Expecting him/her to keep up their end of the shared expenses. You are asking for a major headache and probably problems with your credit and friendship if you do this. RUN!

I would not mind it at all the key thing there is paying their share of the rent and other debts that might come up

Make sure they can explain to you how they are gonna be able to pay their share of the debts.

You also want to know the person, so get a referral ands see if you and the person can live together and get along. You don't want to be living with a party animal if you are a computer geek.

Now if the way they are gonna pay is legit that is fine, but if they are gonna be home all day running hookers, or selling drugs out of the place, you are gonna be just as guilty as they are when you get caught.

Also your landlord is gonna get suspicious and throw you and your new room mate out on your heels.

I hope this has been of some use to you, good luck.

Some people have passive income (investment) ,
So the real question is ,
Do they have the income to support their share of the bills and rent ?

If they can document the income ,
Then the only question is do you want a roommate that might be home 24 hours a day ?

That is a personal decision .

If they weren't leaving their share of the bills to me and actually did something other than watch TV all day - meaning, tidied up the place, did the dishes, etc. I would have no problem with it. I'd be super p*ssed if I came home to a filthy place after working all day.
