I'm thinking about buying property in another state and renting it out for a couple of years, but I do not own any other properties. Would this be considered an investment property for tax purposes or could I file as primary residence, although I don't live there, but plan to in the future?

In Victoria, Australia at the moment, is it financially better to buy or rent a house. In the long run, buying a house incurs a great deal of interest, whereas the rent money doesn't physically get you anything in the long run. Any opinions?

My lease states:
a. In the event the parties agree that tenant shall extend the tenancy beyond the expiration date of the stated term, the continued tenancy shallbe on a month-to-month basis. However, the parties agree as follows:
1. All other terms, conditions, and rules of the original lease shall remain in full force and effect except as changed therein.
2. 60 days written notice is required by tenants in order to vacate. Said notice to be given only at the end of a rental period. Such notice to be effective only as of the 1sr day of the month.

Am I correct to assume that so long as I choose to stay and they let me stay I can go month to month? When my brother who lives in the building tried to stay they forced him to sign another year. I dont want anyone to force me to do anything, and I am trying to buy a house. Do I have to explain myself when I request a month to month? Is there legal recourse if they deny me staying month to month?

My realtor told me before she quit that it was illegal for her to discuss schools with potential buyers. I think she's full of it.

The seller of a condo we bid on has accepted our offer. I know we have to have him sign the contract and put the condo under attorney review.
What happens after the attorney review?
When should the seller stop showing the house?
We've already lost a condo we'd recently put a bid on that was under attorney review and don't want to lose this one. Help!

We live in Suffolk County, Long Island, New York. Our lease is until the end of December, however, the house is on the market for sale. Firstly, I was under the impression that a house can only be put on the market two months before a lease expires; can anyone confirm this? Secondly, if the house does sell in the next month or two, is our lease terminated (and how long would we have to move out)?
Thanks in advance

We're looking at a property and the seller has come down 4% from the original asking price of 159,000. Is that reasonable or should they be expected to come down lower?

I am interested in purchasing my neighbours property which was repossessed by a finance company, I have conducted a land registry search and obtained details of this company to express my interest in purchasing the property but they said to approach the estate agents who have the house on their books. after doing that, we went for a viewing and made a 'verbal' offer after which the estate agent promised to put it forward to the seller. its been over 5weeks, and i have been chasing up the estate agent every other day but all he says is 'its complicated, i've put the offer to 'them'(seller) and they will get back to us (agents)' however, the house has been viewed by at least 50 different families, and the agent said there have been 3 offers of the full asking price (the house is run down and in SLOUGH). i think the estate agents are upto sommat dodgy,as after 2months on the market, the house has not been snapped un-unusual for this area.it could be that they will sell it on the sly?

About 2 years ago I moved from my old apartment(in colorado) and my old lanldlord said he would hold my stuff until I got settled. Now that I am settled(living in Nevada) I can't get in touch with him to make arrangements to pick my stuff up. What shall I do or what can I do?

I lived in an apartment for 10 months on a one year lease. My car was broken into and the person that did it started threating my family since we called the police on him. I told the aparment management of this problem and there was also a police report made on the matter.

The apartments didn't want to let us cancel our lease and move, so we moved anyways because we didn't want to deal with the threats. Now they have placed a judgment on my credit for the two months plus concessions. Should this be legal for them to do this to me since we were being threatened while we lived there? Is there something I can do to make them remove this? Or should I hire an attorney to see if there is something that can be done about it?

Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks!
