It is legal to give information about which schools serve the area the home is in and any public information about them(such as school rating in states that do that, teacher to student ratio, dress code, etc.) It is not legal to give personal opinions or non statistical information. Chances are your REALTOR was playing it safe to avoid discrimination or other lawsuits.

As a licensed real estate broker, I can tell you that the first three respondents are completely incorrect. While it is not illegal to discuss schools, it is completely inappropriate for the Realtor to say anything about the schools, other than which schools serve the residence in question.
As far as the comment about racial and religious demographics in the area, any Realtor who discusses such issues could quickly find himself charged with discriminatory practice under the Fair Housing Act. At the best, a Realtor might suggest to a client where such information would be found.
If ANY client looks at me and asks me to find him/her a house in an area with _______religious background or _______ ethnic background, I quickly advise that to do so is considered steering, I refuse to do it, and if the client is not happy with that, find a different Realtor.

A realtor can give you statistics about the entire neighborhood. He or she is not supposed to inject personal opinion but it is impossible to prevent.
I would not work with a realtor who witheld any information of any kind for any reason.
Full disclosure is the law in real estate.
If the house is haunted, is it a crime scene, you can even get the racial profile of the area, religious info etc...
Find a new realtor

I'm pretty sure they are supposed to discuss schools. Some realtors list the local schools and their ratings on the listing

She is absolutely full of it! Realtors are REQUIRED to answer your questions about local schools, crime in the neighborhood, etc..if you go to any real estate website, they have information about schools as well!

no it isn't authorized. You will have to have your bf seek advice a Real Estate Attny. it's performed plenty in the market & on this variety of RE marketplace wherein the vendor offers again coins after last. it is anything all events comply with that "the lender can not understand approximately" so far as taxable earnings, sure , your bf might be taxed on his "earnings" & after if will get the benefit & then turns round to deliver it to the purchaser (a few of it) i am not certain if he can "write that off" by hook or by crook whilst tax time comes round speak to attny & an accountant. anyone i do know simply offered his apartment & gave again $200K to the purchaser. it IS alright to be a fsbo & no longer distinct that a Realtor does convey within the purchaser. I consider on this case it IS a well factor that this agent IS concerned for the sake of your BF,, you notice, if whatever the RE agent is "breaking laws or serving to the purchaser to wreck regulation". sooo if whatever dangerous comes out of it that the vendor isn't cheerful with, the vendor would cross & ***** in your town's Board of Realtors or State Real Estate Division. & they are operating for subsequent to not anything to support convey the sale by way of to a triumphant near.
