I am getting notes on my room door telling me things will get bad if i dont find a place to live soon, not from the owner of the house but by another roommate that has lived there for a long time and is basically the manager of the house, i pay every two weeks and have lived there for 3 years. We didnt sign any leases, do i have any rights or can he just make me leave? There are two little houses on the property the manager in the front house and me and another roommate in the back, is he allowed to just come in whenever he pleases? ( there is only a kitchen and bathroom in our space, i mean for other stuff)?

We got married in January. She has almost no credit history, I have a horrible credit history (Score is currently 549, but rising) thanks to my ex wife and my parents having used my name. I'm 26, she is 23. Together, we have a combined household income of about $52,000/year. We really dont want to pay rent anymore as it is quite the waste of money, so we are looking at buying. However, we are very aware of the fact that we are in no position to be applying for loans/mortgages. What options are available to us and how do they work?

Sometimes I think I would like to live in a 10 room ..... 3 bath mansion .....

Other times .... with energy costs .... taxes ..... upkeep ... etc.... I think I could just live in a small bungalow ..... perhaps with 1 bedroom, 1 bath ...... and attic ... a basement .....

What would be the smallest dwelling you could possibly live in ? Funny thing is ... I believe in my area .... new homes have a minimum square footage. Are there any areas that allow or encourage small dwellings ??

We're closing on our first house in a few weeks. Besides signing what I've been told is a ton of paperwork, what else can we expect? Do we bring the down payment and closing costs in cashier's check, or a personal check? Where will it take place, how long does it take? Who all will be there?
Thanks!

I have been in the military for 2 years, and the house was originally purchased with a VA loan due to prior service. I got behind before I left, and it was protected by the soilders and sailors act, so it is still in my name. The person who was renting from me did not make any payments the whole time. I am getting a medical discharge, and leaving the army in 3 weeks. Any suggestions?

I've heard it can take 90 days. Is this the average or just a warning that it can take this long in certain circumstances?

I have been in my new condo for 2 months and have not recieved a parking permit, access to on-line information and bill pay, or the name on my mail box changed (Even though they took money out of my move in deposit for it). If I were a renter I would have the right to withhold part of my rent for these problems. What are my rights against a Condo Associaiton? Can I with hold part of my Dues until these problems are fixed? What are my legal right for withholding thier money when I'm not getting service after being here for 2 months?

I have a rental property in another state, and I own a condo that I live in in my state of residence. My rental condo has an annual loss, once depreciation is taken into account. I am not an active manager - I pay a property manager to look after the place as I am too far away. So my loss on the condo is passive.

My question is in 2 parts : am I right in thinking that not being an active manager makes my condo rental loss passive? And, if so, then does this mean that all the expenses that I incur on the rental - mortgage interest, repairs etc - are not tax deductible? Because if so, then the only way to make money on a rental is if it throws off a positive cash flow.

If my rental is a passive loss, can I put the rental mortgage interest in my personal itemized deductions? I guess thats 3 questions.

What is the procedure for creating a "friendly" lease for a garage? A friend of mine is prepared to lease me her garage in exchange for odd jobs, no cash. I've consulted online leasing sites, but their leases all seem to be tailored toward the traditional money for rent concept. Also, with whom would you need to file the lease with? Are there hidden fees, etc ?
