Once one has purchased a tax deed from the state (Alabama), how long does the process of quiet title action take, and what is involved in the process, before one is able to go on the property, go in the house, start cleaning the house, and move in??

I have purchased property through Alabama tax foreclosures also. You have to go through an attorney to "Quiet the Deed". Your attorney can help you determine what processes are involved. As for going into the house and cleaning I would say as soon as the redemtion period is over and you have the actual Tax Deed would be a good time to start. I would not, however, make any large financial investments into the property until a title policy has been issued. visit www.taxtitleservices.com for more info.

If it is a deed (not a tax lien certificate) it should not take long. Check with the recorder/clerk in the county where the property is located.

A tax lien certificate gives the owner up to 3 years to redeem the property by paying the taxes and accrued interest. After that you can get a deed.
