he says he did it while he was in college cause he needed money to pay off student loans, he says that the people had bad credit so on two different occassions he let them use his name to attain a mortgage for using his good credit. i think he said he signed over power of attorney and for him allowing them to use his name, he got paid... since then both properties are in the process of being foreclosed upon (this is probably why the people couldn't get a mortgage on their own credit. does anyone know what this process is called? is it legal? and how should we handle the fact that his credit has now been ruined by two other people and they are threatening to garnish his wages because of the foreclosure, when he doesn't even live in these homes and the mortgage is simply under his name and social security number...is there anyway around this? legally? since technically he signed over all rights? can anyone help us out?

I need to know if the eviction process is still the same if there is no written agreement instead only a verbal agreement and the tenant refuses to move out. If not what should be done about getting them out of the house?

I can only afford to spend about 300 dollars the first month, more after that *once I get paid*. I'm leaving Detroit within the next month *hopefully* and have to somehow arrange housing amidst the chaos.

Where do lenders list the properties they're re-selling? Is there a notice in the papers when a foreclosure is happening? Are there legitimate auctions out there done by banks and not those scam companies that are only selling lists? Thanks.

I bought a house in my name and now my realtor said that my husband is on the title as well. How can that be as I only used my name and credit to buy the house. We set up a trust for the kids a while back that had him listed and the house was supposed to go into the trust if we both die. Do you think that could be why she says he is on title? Can it be reversed and just put back in my name?

My mother in law is selling one of her homes that is in another city. The final papers have not been signed and no money has exchanged hands. It had been agreed that we would have the house empty 6 days after closing. Now the real estate agent has called my mother in law and told her that if the house is not empty in two days that the deal is off! And gave her 1 hour to decide!! Can they do this?? Why would we do that if no papers are signed? They could back out anyway. This is a fully furnished 4 bedroom 2 bath home so it is going to be a major move! What can we do??

I have listed my property for 3 months with my agent, and it has not sold or got any offers. The contract period is for 4 months, but I have decided I cannot sell right now and would like to rent it out to this nice family. My agent is claiming I cannot do this because of the contract, but it's not like I am selling it with another agent, I just want to take it off the market and rent it to this family. Does the law really say that I cannot cancel the contract? Please cite your sources, thanks.

In an rented home, you wouldn't be responsible if the A/C gave out or to roof needed fixing, right. But when you buy a house, your not throwing a payment away never to see it again. When you sell the house, you'll get that money back, or atleast most of it.

I saw a posting online looking for property locators around the country. The posting said that a property locator would earn between $600 and $4000 per property located for this company. Is this legitimate? Do companies actually hire "freelance" property locators like this?

Thank you.
