I bought a house in my name and now my realtor said that my husband is on the title as well. How can that be as I only used my name and credit to buy the house. We set up a trust for the kids a while back that had him listed and the house was supposed to go into the trust if we both die. Do you think that could be why she says he is on title? Can it be reversed and just put back in my name?

Yes, you would need to have a quit claim deed signed and put into your name only as sole and seperate property if he is not to be on title. Or if you want it in trust, then it would need to be drawn up that way in trust. Regardless, you would need a quit claim deed to remove your husband from title.

Go to your local court house, they have a record of your mortage and deed to your property. If his name is listed on there, you can do a quick claim deed (again the court house has this form) It will cost roughly 25.00 to refile it, but you can take his name off the deed.

See someone like a real estate attorney. In some states, no matter whose name is on the deed, husband and wife both own it.

Contact your county clerk's office and request a copy of your deed. There may be a small fee to request it, but at least you'll know for sure who's listed on it.

Go down to your county courthouse and find your deed. Don't pay for a service that you can do yourself.
