I saw a posting online looking for property locators around the country. The posting said that a property locator would earn between $600 and $4000 per property located for this company. Is this legitimate? Do companies actually hire "freelance" property locators like this?

Thank you.

Most states require you to have your Real Estate lic. before you can be a "locator. " You can make equal to one month's rent for the property you lease, but alot of Property Management Companies (I'm in one) have their own people, who do not have to be licensed. If we happen to have a Locator send us someone, who is approved and leases we will give them some money, but not one month's rent worth. Usually $50-100 tops. It's a tough business. It is also very hard to get out of Property Management once you get it-you are too tired and beat up at the end of the day from the job to have enough brain power left over to go to a job interview! The job you love to hate!

If they want you to send them money for training material up front, it is a scam.

If they just want you to tell them where the properties are located and they will do the rest, you will be doing all of the legwork for them and will not see a dime.

If you do not have any type of a contract you will not be getting any money. If it sounds too good to be true.....
