I bought a house 6 months ago before I sold my condo. I borrowed the money from my brother for the new home until the condo sold. I have a written contract and have been paying interest. He is starting to get nervous, so I would like to take out a mortgage for the home to pay him back. Would this be a refinance or a home equity loan? Also, when the condo sells, I expect to still have a mortgage of about $40,000. Assuming I take out a new mortgage now on the house, when I pay 3/4ths of the loan amount off in one lump sum, will my monthly payments decrease or will the monthly payment amount stay the same, but the loan be paid off more quickly?

Over the course of a year the total amount overpaid would equal roughly one additional monthly payment.

We are currently in year four of a thirty year mortgage but don't intend to stay in this house for more than five more years (if that).

My brother says you can get a house with a very small down payment. I own the family home. Dad gave it to me before he died and I do not want to sell it. The family would be really upset. Its not worth much. Taxes says its worth about $65,000. I have invested a fortune here and now I need new siding and a roof, and some re-wiring. but think maybe I should just move to a more modern home.

this man is a devious asshole that may try to sue me later. I need to write release statement that when he pick up his stuff he will not be able to sue me later. Should I take a picture of the stuff? Please advice. I will allow him to come to pick up his stuff up with a police stand by. But he may still sue me because he has nothing better to do. While I was not home, he allows other to enter the house and they took stuff from me and may have taken stuff that I do not know about

purchased home under land contract four years ago. After Katrina, found out realtor didn't have authority to sell, based upon another land contract with original owners. Now original owners are attempting to evict us from the premises. Have contacted an attorney, but it's going to be a costly attempt to get any retribution. Need to find goverment agency , or news help in what i believe was a fraudulent act on the part of the realtor, or even Mississippi State Board of Realtors

I own my own home. I have a mortgage that I paid before I even met my husband and now that we're married, I want to add him to it. I've already added him to the deed, but I figure if he's paying half the mortgage with me now, he should get the credit for it on his credit report, too, since it's a nice, big, positive. I know if you add someone as an authorized user on a credit card account, it'll report on both credit reports, but is there a way to do this with a mortgage?

Experts / the experienced - please help!! Am having a house buying nightmare. I am a first time buyer of a property...the sale was agreed 1st June 06. The vendor said she would move to temporary accomm and was in no hurry to buy. She has since found somewhere she wants to purchase - six weeks after my sale was agreed! And has now said that she really wants to hold on and tie it in.

Her sale is in really early stages, i.e. just sending off searches. I'm good to go and really really really want to be in mid August. She has really messed me about, agreeing to move in to rented, then changing her mind - this has happened twice; and her solicitor seems to be trying to push me in to doing what she wants, he has even accused me of causing her distress through pressure (I have met her twice and have - up to now been very chilled out and nice about it!)

If I threaten to pull out will she move along? Or will it backfire? What would you do?

For instance in my town (Witney Oxon) the house prices continue to rise even theough the average salary is too low to rent let alone buy a house. Also people are being made redundant in manufacturing and there is no new work for them.. Is it just a matter of time before we have a crash?
