I think the Mid west is the cheapest area, Oklahoma, Iowa, Colorado, New Mexico... etc. Don't go to the great Cities like New York, Los Angeles, Miami, etc. That is expensive! People say Seattle is beautiful too and not too expensive, and What the other guy said about Buffalo is true.

Good Luck

Did you mean LOWEST cost of living in U.S.?

If so, try the midwest. I bought a nice sized 3 bedroom home in Oklahoma City last year for just over 100K.

You can also chek out the Forbes web site, where you can compare not only the cost of living but crime rates, average age, average income etc. Try this http://www.forbes.com/lists/

Good Luck.

Buffalo NY has the best homes for some of the lowest prices, and it is next to Canada, only 75 minutes from Toronto and 20 minutes away from Niagara Falls, and has nice beaches, and skiing, four seasons, NFL, NHL, world class theater, art, and architecture, along with some of the best school. best of all it is 400 miles away from that seedy polluted hole called New York City.
