I am about $18,000 in credit card debt and have ruled out paying it (actually it's two cards) off the right way... I know, I know but it's just not possible!

Would I be better off settling the accounts or just to begin trying to build new credit? I have been told that settling debt doesn't help your credit score, is that true?

ok so i am 19 years old and planning on going and applying for a credit card through my bank. it will be my first time applying for one. i really need to build up a lot of credit in like 11 months if at all possible.is it? i dont understand how much your credit goes up every month or whatever. i do understand how it works as i deal with peoples credit in my job. i understand that all the beacon what effects it and everything ( i get people approved for vehicles) i make a lot of money and i will have no problem at all paying the bill in full every month. i dont know how much you have to spend on the card a month to actually see a good difference in my credit beacon. since i dont have any credit history what so ever i have been led to believe that it will be difficult for me to ge a card. i do bank with RBC and they are very good with stuff like this.thats basically all i can think of right now there is probably something i missed so if you can add it in your answersi would appreciate

If I have a credit card company that is offering me a settlement for a charge account that has been charged off, and I decide to pay the settlement will they remove this from my credit and allow my Beacon score to increase or how does it work any suggestions?

ive been their costumer for three yrs. i started at 21% interest bec. i didn't have any credit history. but after a year or so, they raised my interest 24% and my credit score is always high and never had a missed/late payment.is there any other problem that i don't see why they made my interest higher.

I bought a motorcycle from Honda at 9.9% interest. I was told that I could pay it off early if I wanted and that would effectively reduce my interest. So I pay extra on the monthly amount. The payment is $155 but I always pay $160 or better. The extra is supposed to go towards the principle but last month I paid $175 so $20 dollars is supposed to go towards the principle but they applied $11 more towards the interest and only $9 towards the motorcycle
What's up with this? I can't ask them about it until tomorrow.
So in essence my interest last month was $55 this month it was $ 65.

I have a 390,000 mortgage privately held at a rate of 8% for the next 54months then a balloon of approx. 300,000 to finish the terms of the loan. I may be able to cover the 300k before the payoff date. I would just be more comefortable with a longer term. currently my payments are almost 4k per mo. In order to satisfy by the end of my term I have to pay 8,675.00 per month to zero out at the end of my mortgage. you see the delima. The mortgage is on a 1.2- 1.7 m property (marina) that we put up almost 50% in cash on.

My question is that I want to consolidate my total 8000 debt onto one credit card by asking for an increase in my lower APR credit card which is 5.99%, but they keep denying it. They keep saying I have too much revolving credit. If I payoff one of my lower credit card, which I am about to do soon for about $4000, and ask for a credit increase will they give it to me? Also if I pay off all the 8000 debt and ask for an increase, will the credit card companies give me the increase right away? I've had these credit cards for almost 4 years now. I just never understood credit increases.

I am currently a 2nd year student in college, so I know my parents can claim Hope Credit; however, last year they didn't claim Hope Credit. Are my parents allowed to claim last year's Hope Credit along with this year's? Is it possible to claim both Hope Credit together if I am still in my second year of college?

I'm hoping for a "yes" answer =) but if not... can someone give me some advice on what to do next? Thanks.

I went to a restaurant with 1 friend and was charged $58.75 for the bill and left a $12.00 cash tip. Two days later when I was checking the balance on my Matercard debit card, I noticed a charge of $70.50 for that same restaurant that I had authorized a payment for $58.75. I was not informed of this practice by the restaurant or at the time of signing for the amount to be payed. It has been four business days since and the charge on my account still states $70.50. What can I do to ensure that this doesn't happen again and how do I get my money back?

I had a credit card go to collections that I have since payed off. According to the CRA's the account is soupposed to show on record until March 07. Well this is March 07 and the account is still on record. Should I wait until April before I contact the CRA or should I just let it be? With experian the account is shown in good standing so I would hate for it to drop off and then my score lowers because it will be one less thing in good standing.
What should I do?
