I have a question regarding a collection company that has been calling me. I have told them a couple times not to call me at work or on my wifes cell phone number and they continue to do so. Is there any recourse I can take or anything I can do to make sure they don't call these numbers. I've givin them a number to reach me on which they do not call me on. PLEASE HELP!

I have two questions, first I was just contacted by an "attorney" that says if i don't set up any payment arrangements for a hospital bill from 2-3 years ago, they will garnish my wages. I don't work but she says they can find my husband's information and garnish his wages. Can they do this? Also, my husband paid off a credit card bill over two years ago, and he keeps getting mail from a collection agency for that bill trying to take him to court over that same bill. I can't seem to find the letter the original company sent when it was paid in full, but it does show on his report that the account was settled. What can be done about this?

Hello, I have recently had a judgement placed against me for a credit card by a collection agency. (I know that I should have paid the bill, however with several moves I lost track of the card and they lost track of me)The card had not been used for over 4 years. I have no personal property and am unemployed. I have a child with a disability that at this point prevents me from seeking employment. I am not on any federal assistance. I offered to make payments but the collection agency said that the offer was too low ($100 per month). They are now threatening to contact the sheriff. Can I be placed in jail or what are they contacting the sheriff for? Does anyone know what my next step should be? I obviously cannot afford a lawyer.

We tried to buy a house about a year ago, but couldn't because of our bad credit. We followed instructions given to us through a credit counselor, but haven't seen any change in our score. In fact, it's now worse now than it was when we started looking, (they said the inquiries by lenders did that). Over the past year, we have paid off a couple debts, put a truck loan in my husbands name and been paying on time, and everything else we pay is on time. We were hoping to be able to buy our home this October, but it's still bad. I mean, we're starting to think we should just quit trying for a house. Any experience with this? How long will we have to wait? We were told we could probably get into a house with a downpayment, but we don't have very much.

I disputed and sent a debt validation letter to NCO (2) Two years ago. I recently (3/19/07) got a collection letter from them,
Stating or asking for settlement on a charged off account with citibank. Since (08) 2005 I have not seen this collection on any of my credit reports. I have ordered two of the reports.
Do you think after two years they can put this information back on my credit files?
Any advice is appreciated.

I have already filled out the paperwork and sent to my lawyer but I am just curious if it is a pretty easy process or do they pretty well always turn ya down? Another question is how long does it take to get the answer , I was told about 21 days but does it really take that long or longer?

I'm having a debate with a friend of mine - he argues that to maximize one's FICO score, you should keep a balance of 50% of your total credit limit (e.g., if you have a credit card with a $1000 limit, keep a revolving $500 balance and pay the monthly minimum). Aside from the fact that this plan results in paying way too much interest, what percentage is optimal for FICO purposes?

I am with someone who has parents who rule his life but I feel that some of the things they do are illegal. He is 27 years old, his parents access his credit report without his knowledge and react on things without him knowing. The reason I am saying this now is because he signed on my car and his parents got into his credit report and saw this on there. Now they are demanding that he take his name off the car and me lose my car that I worked so hard for. Is there anything I can do on my part? How do I know if they accessed my credit report too? Can't they get into trouble for this? Please help!
