Is there a "set" number of points assigned to each collection/negative item on your credit report ?

That is a question only the people at Fair Isaacs Corp can answer. Their formula (FICO) is the one that is used most by credit bureaus. However, their formula is a secret and so you may have difficulty obtaining that information from them.
