Negative items can stay on your report for up to 7 years, 10 years if it is a bankruptcy. If you feel like playing the waiting game for about 8 years, then you probably won't try to make arrangements to take care of them. But keep in mind that as long as your credit is the way it is, unless you win the lottery or got a high-paying job, you'll never be able to get a house, a car, or anything worthwhile without credit or a bunch of cash.
