We are trying to get an alarm in our home. Our credit is just below 600 and so far the couple of places I have tried to go through are requiring a min. of 600 points. Do all places do credit checks? Does anyone know if there is a company that doesn't or a better way?

They are requiring a credit check because you are likely receiving a system for "free" and committing to a monitoring program for 2- 3 years. If you are willing to pay for the system up front, then they won't ask for a credit check.

Mine did a credit check. I know this because I saw the query on my credit report. I don't know if they all do or not though.

I got all my equipment free but I had to agree to a two year contract for the monitoring so I guess they wanted to make sure I was going to actually be able to pay them for two years.
