Trying to buy a house after the 1st of the year. Have disputed everything on credit reports. Trying to boost my score. Need some positive things to add to my report w/out having my credit pulled. Merchandising or credit card companies such as Crown Jewelers do not look at credit to extend a limit. They will however report positive to credit bureaus. If anyone has any recomendations please post........Thanks!

i'm at a standstill. I wrote a dispute letter to the collection agency asking them to show proof of mydebt and I got a letter back saying they did not have enough information and returned the debt to the original creditor. The original creditor is requesting I call them. I have no inetention of paying this debt and I'm afraid if i call them they will just try to run circles around me. Where should I go from here? should I write a disupte letter directly to the original creditor and request all correspondence be done through mail? If I refuse to actually call them can they deny me proof of my debt?

A couple of months ago, my friend used my information for what she said was 'co-signing' a loan for her, since she didn't have the credit rating to be able to get it on her own, and really needed it at the time.

It turns out she ended up signing up for a credit card in my name, with her as a joint user on the account. She then proceeded to buy a $1500 bed using the account, and has been late on payments, even though, after I confronted her on this, she told me she paid it off.

She continued to change her story, now saying she sent payments. Today, I talked to the collections department for the credit card, and they told me they haven't received any payments on it, and tomorrow the account goes down as being over 30 days late on payments.

They gave me the fraud number, but I don't know if I should report this friend. I've known her for over ten years, and even though she's been abusing my trust and kindness recently, I worry what may happen if they charge her with fraud...

I thought there was a law about when bill collectors can call you? What are my rights and what can I do about it if they call anyway?

The place burned down this past september, and the insurance company won't pay me the remaining balance owed to me because i don't have the title to the place. i did some homework and discovered that the park actually financed to me a mobile home with someone else's name on the title! the park says that they will file for a title but that was back over 8 weeks ago. do i have grounds for a lawsuit? i have heard that a mobile home was similar to a car; when you get it, the title comes shortly. i never saw the title to mine. all i have as proof of ownership is the contract. is this illegal? should i hire an attorney?

I have a hospital bill of $101,000.00 and Physicians fees of $38,000.00 with no insurance in sight. I also have racked up about $30,000.00 in various credit card dues. I've never missed a payment on the credit cards for over 18 years thanks to a little help now. I am currently disabled with no resources except food stamps and also are unemployed. I've applied for SSI, SSA and Medicaid but I do not fit their definition of being disabled. My doctor's have pointed out and provided testimony on paper that my medical condition will have to be followed up for years and that I am not to work or drive until they decide it is safe. I had brain tumor surgery with a side order of uncontrolled grand mal seizures. I'm on the road to recovery but it will be well over 12 months with expensive tests in between.
$3500.00 for MRI's twice a year to monitor for recurrence of tumor.

Any sane advice would be helpful. Bankruptcy? Flee the country?
Just jokin.

I also pay mortgage, around $2300/mo, around $860/mo for the car. Income is $95k/yr and about $8k/mo. I know that lenders tend to have a limit of some percentage of your income allowable to be used up in credit, but what percentage is that? How much more credit can I take for another car?

With all the identity theft going on these days, why don't the credit card and loan companies require a fingerprint to prove identity? You know, ask certain questions that only the person applying for credit would know (birthplace, mother's maiden name, streets you have lived on, schools attended, etc). I know these are general questions, but would a thief go through all the trouble to find out all these and more answers? Then once the company is satisfied with the answers, send a signature required package to the home address of the applicant, with instructions on how to obtain the fingerprint. Then change all the machines in the stores to be able to scan the fingerprint to verify identity? Does anybody else think this is a good idea? I know it would be a tremendous amount of work and $ for the companies to switch over, but in the whole scheme of things with all the money they lose yearly to identity theft, it makes complete sense to me. What do you think?
