I'm talking about the insurance you pay extra for on your credit cards so they would supposedly be paid off for you in the event of your death. I have a friend whose 75 yr. old mother is dying very soon of terminal cancer. I'm wondering if he just sent in the death certificate to the credit company, would this be enough to get them off his back. She has no other family except for his son, and he can't afford to pay her left over bills. His name's not on her credit card accounts.

On the report from the denied credit firm, it only gave debt amounts from Equifax and no names. I paid off all my bills at the end of 2005 and early 2006 and only have two debts, outside the two mortgage payments. What can I do to get the info and get my credit report updated. I can't get the free credit reports, because someone has already used my name and they say I have already requested th "free report". I have not requested that report this year. Are there any options for me/

I have a regular visa credit card that I have paid in full. I have heard that cancelling the card will hurt your credit scores...is this true?
Also, I have a store credit card that is also paid in full. If I cancel this one will it hurt my scores as well?
I have been told to just cut the cards up and leave the credit lines open. Could someone please help me with this? Thank you!

I am going to be getting engaged next spring and at that time my boyfriend and I would like to begin looking for a home. We would like to purchase a townhome but also will be looking at homes. We both together make great money and aside from a car that we purchased together and my student loan we have no debt. The problem is that we both have less than perfect credit. We are in our mid 30's and are trying to clean up our credit. My score is in the low 600's and not sure where his score is. I am wondering if in a years time that we could bring our credit score up and qualify for a decent interest rate or if it would be wise to rent for a year and then buy? My credit score is due to late payments and he has some bills from a divorce six years ago that were just not paid. Any suggestions?
