I am in the process of raising my credit score, but would like to take out a relatively small bank loan (not apply for a credit card). Would this affect my score in anyway? 10 points for the most thought-out precise answer. :-)

My mum is in a lot of debt, I've been making the payments for the last year but I can't do it any more. She can't work due to a disability she's had for 20 years, so is on benefits. She has obtained all this debt whilst having no income, she didn't lie on the application yet they still gave her these loans. It adds up to a total of around 7 grand. She has approached an IVA but to me it sounds a big dodgy, as the payments would be less, but they'd be over 10 years and they take a 20% cut every month. Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

I opened a credit card account 7 months ago and I realized that I don't need it any more. I am a college student and right now i have 3 credit cards. I do spend money moderately and I do pay my cards off on time. Since I I just started my credit history is ok to cancel my second or third card or should I just keep them open. I realized that I dont need three credit cards. How would it affect my credit score?

This is what I have been able to come up with so far:

(I have 1 year of making my auto loan payments on time.)

1)Take $500 to a bank and establish a security deposit account to obtain a secured credit card.

2) Repeat this at another bank.

3) Use both credit cards but never charge more than a maximum balance of 20% of the total credit card limit.

4) Pay more than the minimum credit card payment on a bi-weekly basis.

5) Go to my bank and take out a CD for $2,000 that pays interest.

6)Get a secured loan for $1,000 against the CD and pay it off in a year on time.

My husband and I had to file bankruptcy last year and have been in a battle with Chase Mortgage ever since. The paperwork we signed specifically stated that we were going to reaffirm the debt. We have been paying on the house every month since we have lived here. We have never been late, and have never gotten behind on payments. For some reason, our credit reports show Chase as reporting our mortgage debt to be included in the bankruptcy, the account closed, and a zero balance. We have written to Chase, our lawyer, and the credit bureaus, but all three are like talking to a brick wall. Nothing has been changed or corrected despite all of our attempts. This is preventing us from purchasing a new home, as we are being greatly affected by the negativity on our credit report. Has anyone dealt with a situation similar to this, and if so, what advice do you have? What else can we do?

I'm in another country (not U.S.) and would like to get a loan and have it put into my U.S. bank account without having to set foot in the U.S.

Also, do you have to pay taxes on the money you get from a loan? I wouldn't think so, but perhaps I'm an idiot.

i have 2 but i've gone over the limit with one and have less than a $100 credit left on the other. i admit that i wasted it on things i didnt need but i now want to get a 3rd one for REAL emergencies, starting with my car that needs serious maintenance. my credit history is ok (meaning only one bad mark from years ago) and i've been on time with all my bills, though i dont have enough for savings and i've only had credit for 4 years now. so is this a bad idea? will it ruin my history and is 3 too many to have or the normal amount these days?

I have 2 such credit accounts that were charged off and closed. There is another that was charged off and closed yet it is not listed under "past due". I mean, are they still racking up # of months past due even as they're closed? Isn't this affecting my credit doubly? I know the charge offs and closed accounts have to stay but this past due classification seems a little misleading. Should I contest?

I want to focus on paying off these 2 cards before I start a business. I can pay a good amount monthly should I pay one off heavily and than the other or both equally. Both have about 14% interest rates, and I have 0% offers galore. Thanks
