I quit my job of 7 years after being suspended on what a co-worker said about my work performance. The co-worker, a RN license is to delegate basic tasks to CNA's which I am. However, we were short this day, the RN was told to do her own work by our charge RN since we were short CNA's.The RN delegated to me so that she could eat breakfast and sit. Swamped, I tried but was unable to meet the demands of two missing co-workers & pt volume. Two other RN's I worked with knew of this co-workers laziness and the stress she was putting upon me, but said nothing in my defense after they agreed the situation was unfair. I tried to go above my managers head and talk w/ adm, but was beat to the punch by my manager.I always went above and beyond when it came to working there, and I loved my job! The RN has been fired b/c of her bad work performance, and the manger demoted to a lower postion out of that dept. I want my job back but quit the orgnztion, do I stand a chance of gettiing job back?

I am pretty authorative ...I know I am. I have even noticed it. I can also be a little dictative. I am a leader, always have been. I am on a new job that I have been with for a couple of months. The job is actually a new company that needs some leadership..however, my boss seems figity around me sometimes or uptight almost like he feels uncomfortable around me and not at ease. I bring my ideas to him across the table and he goes along almost every time. I feel that I may be coming across as demanding or dictative like Im over him ...how do I act like a lady and remain an employee rather than being overbearing and pushy?

If I use a recruiter to find a 100k plus job for me, what do they charge me? I understand that they charge both the company that ends up employing me, and that they would take a fee from me too. Is it a % of the annual salary, or a flat fee, or what is most common?

I have been working in the hotel industry for 10 years & just recently stayed at a bed & breakfast. It was very charming, warm & inviting. I've decided that this is the career path that I'd rather pursue. I know that with hotels they're usually owned by big names and you apply for them, but how would I get a foot in the bed & breakfast business? Most are family owned. At this point I'd be willing to "intern" a couple of days a week just to get the experience on my resume.

Hello,

I been considering changing my career focus and perhaps go into Computers (IT). Tonight I was at the community college nearby and picked up some brochures but it does not go into detail. I only want to maybe get certified or maybe just get an AA degree in something in Computers. I was thinking about Networking. Keep in mind I am horrible at Math, but for these courses, there are no Math classes involved. So my question is, how difficult is Computer Networking as a Career and how good is the money? What kind of hours would I be working? Can I get a good job in this without a Bachelor's Degree?

I'm 28, and live at home because I studied English during undergrad - which wasn't for me. I want to start on a new career but I'm still not sure what I want to do. I used to want to study natural science such as physics but that doesnt seem realistic anymore although it's a nice fantasy. I'm considering urban planning or library science. I would like to speak to professionals to get an idea of what working in their fields is like. I don't feel comfortable approaching people, however, considering my age and lack of experience. I've just been doing research on careers on my own. Can anyone help me out?

I started a new job 3 weeks ago. It pays very well but I think I was misled. At the interview I told them all about the applications I had written and at one point said "I LOVE DESIGNING DATABASES!" when they asked about it.

I know how to use almost all common software and program in all commonly used programming languages.

On my first day I was told I would not be doing any application programming, ever. I cannot describe how crushed I was. I was really hoping to move ahead in .NET programming and database design.

I never really thought of myself as an artist but I have also been doing medical and scientific illustration all along and it appears that this is what they were interested in.

Should I find something else right away or suffer through the requisite year or more?

Supposedly it has been around 1997-2007 and it says you get benefits after the three months of working for it so I would really like to know how to find out if this is a REAL job at a legit place and how do i find out more info about this place?? I have looked around about it but keep coming up to the well known DHL shipping service.

Someone...anyone...have you heard anything about this????

Here is the link to the place if it helps:

What is it that employers want to hear. Like as if you answer "Oh, I am usually late to work" are they really looking for that. What am I supposed to answer. By the way, that was just an example, I have a great work ethic and take my jobs very seriously but, I don't know how to answer this question because if I say I don't have any weaknesses, wont that sound unrealistic. HELP!

A month ago, I got a call from a local business(a popular tattoo parlor) wanting me to create a website. I've done sites for businesses before, so I was willing to help the guys out.

When we sat down and discussed the specifics, they didn't care about the appearence. As long as the right info got up, then everything else was up to me. In about a week, I bought the domain, got hosting, and delivered the site. They liked it.
It was clean and professional(and personally, what I would like to see when deciding what parlor to visit - were I to get a tattoo). They paid me for my services.

After a week, however, they decided that it was too clean. They wanted it to look more like 'other' tattoo sites. Dark, wild, and 'in your face'. I agreed to change it at first, but no I'm not sure if I want to. I feel as though it would be downgrading my work, and that's not something I want to put my name on.

I'm tired of running in circles for these guys. How do I tell them that I quit?

A coworker recently discovered a report at work that shows our departments salaries. Her and I were both astonished at the differences. I have been there for 3 1/2 years and another girl was hired a year ago and makes $2 more an hour than I do, along with others who have been hired after me. I trained these people! How do we tactfully bring this up to our boss without letting him know that we saw this report? She is also being paid lower than others and has been there for 2 years. Just to add, there was nothing illegal about viewing the report, it was accidentally discovered and it is not password protected. It is stored on a shared file that anyone could access.

I am studying, to earn a degree in early childhood education and working full time in an office. I think it would be better to get some experience in, so my question is , Can I get a job teaching before I get my degree and what kind of salary could I earn ? I am not too happy at my job now but the money is o.k. ( pays all the bills, but nothing amazing .) I want to start working with kids asap if I could but the money would have to be at least what I am making now. Open to suggestions
thanks !!

Recently they added 2 new positions in which they were going to bring in 2 new people. Well for one position they hired somebody and the other position I offered to take if I got compensated for it. Well every since I have asked to be compensated for taking on this new position, they have turned the tables on me and said its now part of my job responsibilities, so they making me do it for free. They figured they could save some money but forcing me to do this. The other person they hired is doing the exact same job as me, but getting paid for it. I also am doing my initial job that I was hired to do. Should I contact a lawyer, or can a company make you do this?

I sat in friends lap (Girl), didn’t hug her. The end of the day, I was taken into an office to be served with the notice. I asked why am I being given this, and the said sexual harassment is extremely serious. The girl’s lap that I sat on wasn’t the one complaining but the person who is serving me with a final written warning (my manager). I talked to the companies legal council, and they said they’re within there rights to skip over a verbal and the three written warnings.
I said its ok for people to harass me, and there’s couple of guys who carry knifes to work, there is about 4 people in my group who are always late (5 to 20 mines late). I’m so stressed out over this, and I don’t know what to do.
They want me to tell them who the people are that are late, and who carry weapons to work. I would be a dead man if I said who. Now I can’t transfer anywhere
I have never received a verbal warning or anything ever, I work hard and always on time. I’m in the top 10% of my group

I work at in a company in the UK. I've built up six weeks (30 working days) holiday that I 'should' take before the end of the calender year. My company is asking that I take only 20 working days and also stipulating when I take these, then carry over 10 days into the next year. Is this legal? Do I have the 'reasonable' right to demand these holidays when I want before the year ends? Can I argue that I want all 30 days before the end of the year?

At present, they're ignoring all my questions or requests for time off and simply don't appear to want to give me an official answer.

Ideas?
