I have been working in the hotel industry for 10 years & just recently stayed at a bed & breakfast. It was very charming, warm & inviting. I've decided that this is the career path that I'd rather pursue. I know that with hotels they're usually owned by big names and you apply for them, but how would I get a foot in the bed & breakfast business? Most are family owned. At this point I'd be willing to "intern" a couple of days a week just to get the experience on my resume.

I love B&Bs, they are a great place to stay, often the owners are wonderful and friendly.

Most are privately owned and operated by husband and wife teams. I have only stayed at one bed and breakfast place that was operated by someone other than they owner (they were actually not that friendly to start with, but my girlfriend at the time was Filipino and the wife of the couple operating the B&B was also Filipino......)

They might be a great opportunity to work at, because you would effectively be the hotel manager.

Your best bet is to buy one or start your own. It is very hard work, long hours, guests complaining about things and asking for requests you can't fulfill. But you they can earn good money, and if you build up a good client repeating client base, you can sell and reap high rewards.
